NWR- Ouch!

So we got a nice dumping of snow yesterday/last night and our neighbors kindly shoveled our driveway. (Love them!) We do theirs as well if we get outside first., anyways...
So this morning I was brushing the snow off my car to go to work and just as I was finished and coming back to the drivers side I fell. Flat on both knees.

I think I need to go back 3 years.  May 30th (Yes I remember the day, it's been burned in my skull as a traumatic event) I crushed the ligaments in my right knee.  I was borderline surgery, but I was on the wrong side (the side where the Dr.s said no surgery for you) So instead all I got was a months worth of heavy  duty pain meds, anti-inflammations and a month off of work with a nice prescription of " stay off your leg for a week and then start walking on it"  The Drs. were CRA-ZY!  I could barely bend my knee laying down, forget putting any sort of weight on it.

Anyways, since then it's significantly better except my knees have major arthritis and I now trust them more to predict the weather instead of the weather man.  (If there's any rain or snow in the future I'll know about it at least a day before) I can also barely walk up my stairs if I'd had a long day standing.

So back to this morning yeah, I fell flat on both knees and both hands.  My knee has been throbbing ever since and I think when I fell I pulled something in my neck or head.  I've been feeling a bit of pressure in the back of my head ever since this happened but the pressure has been gradual.  I'm hoping it will gradually go away just like it came..

I think my new nickname should be Clumsy or AP (accident prone).

  • Sorry to hear that!  We got some snow here too and just walking down my front steps was a challenge to avoid all the ice this morning.  Yet another reason to look forward to this summer!  The snow will be gone.

Sending wishes for a speedy recovery!
  • Ugh, that sounds so painful! I agree, go see a doctor! Hope it starts to feel better soon.

  • Oh no!!!! Definitely sucks! Ever since I tore ligaments in my left ankle it hurts & swells randomly! Especially when it rains and either really hot or really cold...I hope it feels better!
  • If have arthritis everywhere but my elbows. If you have arthritis in your knees you should really be seeing a Rheumatologist or an Internist at least. You could be doing more damage to your knees as time goes on. I am on prescription anti inflammatories that help a lot. Your knees would probably feel better on one if these too. I've been warned that I need to take care of my joints now if I want them to be working when I get older. I feel terrible that you feel on your knees. Sometimes just bumping an inflammed joint can suck the breath out of me. I can only imagine how bad that hurt. Are you sure you didn't bump your head?
  • Oh no. That sucks. I have knee problems too so I know how much it sucks. Take an anti-imflamatory, try a heating pad/ice and stay off it as much as you can. Hope you feel better.

  • Oh wow.. This sounds awful and i just shuddered feeling your pain.  I played field hockey in college and on October 18 2003 (yes I also remember the date because it is EXTREMELY traumatic) I blew out my entire left knee.. pretty much ripped apart every ligament and ended up having surgery so trust me I know what this is like!

Take it easy.. ice it.. anti-inflammatory and see a doctor if the pain doesn't go down soon!
  • That sounds horrible!  I hope it isn't serious!

  • Ouch that sounds terrible! I feel on my hands and knees a couple weeks back because I tripped on the sidewalk and that hurt my knees enough to be painful for the next two days.  I could never imagine having done that after a bad injury especially one that was never truely healed it sounds.  I would definitely seek out a new doctor and maybe a physical therapist to discuss your options.
