Sacramento -- Looking for a DJ

Hi... just wanted to know if you had any recommendations for a DJ. It would be preferred to have a DJ from Sacramento so they wouldn't have to charge for travel fees.

How much do they usually charge? I need one only for the 5-hour reception.

Thanks in advance.

I'm using Extreme Productions. I've seen them at other functions and they're really great but I think they're a little bit on the higher end price wise. They are Sacramento based.

Another on I looked at but didn't go with (because we know the DJ at Extreme is JSquared Audio. jsquaredaudio.com

Hope this helps a little and good luck! :)

kaynix21, Thanks for the recommendation. I will look at those.

Has anyone tried Matt of DJMC? I was reading yelp and he seems to get good reviews. Was wondering if anyone has used his dj services...

    Thanks.

We used Terry from Stewarts DJ. He was awesome. Everything about him is professional. Our guests really liked him as well. He kept the reception moving and a lot of people out on the dance floor for an afternoon wedding.

Plus he has an English accent. Huge bonus!

We used (and LOOOVED) Sonny from Exquisite Events & Entertainment. He's in Sacramento as well. He was one of our favorite vendors. GL, happy planning!!

I would look into Brandon & Kami with Sound Image Entertainment.

I am using A&A music and events. The DJ's name is Anthony Avery and he is awesome. He is very experienced, has lots of energy, does not charge extra for lighting, and will be your master of ceremonies for the day. His prices are very affordable too. A&A does not charge a travel fee and their office is located in sac.

We are using him too, he is apart of the Lion's Gate Hotel that we are using for our reception! He is awesome! Another good one that I hired for my parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary was Tom Fretwell ... www.frettys.com. He is GREAT and was unfortunately booked the day we are getting married but I can't wait to see Terry in action!

Awesome ideas! Thanks, all! Can someone give an estimate of the range to expect, say, for a 5 hour reception? I'm starting the process and only have one proposal so far, but it seems high and I'm just curious.

Most DJs quote only for 4 hours for more or less $1000, and an additional $100-$150+ for overtime hours. If you find one that will quote $1000 for 5 hours --- go for it... that would be reasonable. Some DJs charge $250 per hour. That's not unusual. These are usually the more popular DJs or more established ones.

But on the average, for 5 hours, I'd say you'll be paying $1000-$1500.

Also, some DJs include basic lights with their package, others charge additional fees for it. And they ask if you'll need their services for the ceremony too, or just the reception. It seems that they have difficulties setting up in 2 venues --- so they charge more if you need them for the ceremony too.
