Generic Yaz

Anyone take it? I thought someone said they had an issue with it? I just got it today and am nervous to take it, although I'm sure it's the same thing as Yaz...

its tough to say since everyone reacts differently.  I was on Yaz for awhile and had no side effects.  My dr. only switched me to Loestrin FE 24 last year b/c Yaz was getting some bad press about higher risks of side effects.

I tried a month of the generic, I have 2 more left (mail order). I don't know if it's the pills or the post vacation bloat, but I'm switching back to the brand YAZ until the wedding. It's probably all psychological, but it makes me feel better.  After the wedding, I'll finish the other 2 packs of the generic, I didn't notice any other issues with it, tho I'm not sure if you can tell after only 1 month.

I was really nervous to take it too, there was actually a post on here about it about a month ago. The only main problem with it I've read is that whatever the ingredient that's in YAZ to make it more shelf sustainable isn't in the generic one.

It is not the same thing. There has to be at least one active or inactive ingredient which is different. I was on Estrostep in the past which I did fine on. Walgreens decided to start switching me to Tilia, which is the generic version and they tried to assure me that it is basically the same. I gained weight, broke out badly and had crazy mood swings from it. I have never been on Yaz. I am not saying the same thing will happen to you, just be in tune with your body and mind in case anything seems off because legally it cannot be the same exact thing.

I got the generic in the mail a month ago, much to my surprise.  I just finished one month of it, and everything seems to be fine.  Haven't noticed anything weird.  However, that being said, I'm going back to my last two packs of the brand until my wedding in November., and then will switch back and finish the generic ones.

I was recently offered the generic with a $0 copay, instead of my normal $35  copay for the brandname Yaz.  I've heard so many horror stories about generics that I just don't want to switch withouth knowing more. So, I've decided not to switch and just keep paying the $$.  If I continue to hear that other people are using it and not noticing any difference, then I may switch in time.

All that is different between a generic and the name brand are the fillers, the active ingredients are exactly the same and in the same concentrations. I think its mostly a psychological thing when there are issues, either that or an allergy to one of the fillers.

thanks girls. Those on generic Yaz/Yasmin thanks for the info- I am going to take it this month and see how it goes. Makes me nervous that some of you have heard horror stories about switching to generics, I assume it's not to the Yaz one as you made it more vague. Here's to hoping it's fine!

generic for ortho tri cyclen is actually better than the original so you may actually like the generic better.
