Another gift idea...

First, thank you for indulging me on the BM gift questions. (I asked about the dog bone necklace last week). The person I usually run everything by is the one I'm trying to think of the perfect gift for, so it's hard. We love exchanging presents, and we both spend a lot of time picking out each others gifts on holidays, so I feel a lot of pressure to make her BM gift fantastic.

That being said...what do you think of a handmade afghan? I can crochet...I'm not an expert, but there was one year when everyone got a scarf or hat. I made my mom an afghan but that's the only one I've ever made because frankly I don't usually have the patience.

Also...IF that's a good idea, would it be weird if she got something that took me hours and hours to make, and my sister (MOH) got jewelry that I just bought? Would it look bad that I put so much effort into one and not the other? Or am I overthinking?

Re: Another gift idea...

  • I think it sounds very thoughtful! I don't think it'll look bad if you don't make your sister one.

  • I think it depends on the person. I would think it was super sweet if someone gave me one.
To add on to what stage said... I have a crapload of afghan and blankets and as it is I'm always trying to rotate them. None that was handmade, though, so there is that.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re:Another gift idea...: Yeah, see most of mine are handmade or brought from somewhere exotic as a gift, so they all have "special meaning", which is why one from a friend is probably more likely to end up in a closet than the one my grandmother made me, or the one that my father's commanding officer brought back to me from Saudi Arabia, etc.

<div>She does use them because her house is always freezing. Although that means she already has some. Now that you mention it, I think at least one of them is handmade by BF's grandmother. *sigh* will keep thinking...damn I wish I could afford to buy her a designer bag or something.</div><div>
