AHHH!! Venue Crisis. In need of much help!!

SOOO Fi and I had planned to go with Alpine Country Club. We both love it (or at least i thought we BOTH did). And we had even set the appt to put out deposit down. And then at the last minute Fi tells me that he isnt sure if he wants it there. Anddd the stress has begun. So now we are back to square one... I guess it is okay since he was honest with me. I have been looking online at new venues literally all day, and my head is starting to hurt. I love the idea of a Narragansett wedding since that is where we first got together, and it would be romantic to have our wedding where it all began. However, I am not particularly crazy about any Gansett Venues. Perhaps a Tent wedding...but where?? Also i would absolutely LOVE a newport wedding, however our budget would simply not allow for this, unless we can find a Venue for a decent price! any ideas for a Newport wedding on a budget?? We are trying to stay at around 15,000-20,000, but the closer to 15, the better! Please, any and all input would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!

I got married in Newport at Easton Beach Rotunda on a $25,000 budget for around 178 people. While I love my venue, I was really fortunate to have beautiful weather. This may or may not be important to you unless getting married on the beach is a must. Also keep in mind that the beach is public so you will have a few gawkers but most will  just want to congratulate you. The venue location was ideal because half of our guest were from out of town and they stayed in Middletown and Newport the entire holiday weekend since our wedding was the Sunday before Memorial day. Also, my venue coordinator and staff were very helpful and communication was great. I was also allowed to use my own caterer or in this case caterers - both very budget friendly. The rotunda is a blank palette so it will need some decor unfortunately there are some restrictions but uplights and candles are great options to make the round room a more intimate setting. I also love the whimsy factor - the old fashion carousel. Cocktail hour was held outside on the wraparound deck overlooking the ocean.

    • I actully have come across the website for the Rotunda several times. And it doesnt seem like it would be in our budget. Our wedding is going to be on a Friday in June 2013, So I am hoping that the weather would be cooperative, although, having it on the beach isnt completely necessary. Which Caterers did you use, also if you dont mind sharing how much did they charge pp? If you do not want to disclose this information publicly my e-mail is AmandaLeigh725@gmail.com. We are probably looking at 125-150 guests for our wedding, and the beach for the backdrop would be really nice. And if we were to decide to go with them, I'

Check out Atlantic Beach Club. It's technically in Middletown but it's right on First Beach. The upstairs is gorgeous with views looking out over the ocean. Their food is good, too. And I know from a good friend who had her reception there that will seriously work with you on the budget thing! Especially on a Friday night.
Hotel Viking in Newport is another great one. They were in my top two choices and will also work with you on the budget thing. The staff there is super nice!!

Check out Mt Hope Farm in Bristol...it overlooks the ocean!  They'll let you put up a tent or if you have smaller group you can use the facilities.  there is also Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown, although this may be too small for you

Great view at Quidnesset Country Club!
Atlantic Beach Club in Newport/Middletown can be beautiful depending on how you decorate it.
Valley Country Club in Warwick, RI has excellent food and great knowledge in wedding planning.! Reasonable too.
Also, The Regatta in Newport has a nice view.
  • Why doesn't he want to go to alpine anymore??  I think it is beautiful there and the food it delicious too!
