TMI Tuesday

Today, TMI stands for "Too Much Indulging". So tell us, what are you most excited to stuff yourself with this Thanksgiving? Does your family have any specialty eats or treats? Any other traditions you'd like to share?

  • Most excited for stuffing! Since we were little, we've been going by my Grandma's house to help cut the bread, celery, and onions up for the best tasting stuffing!  Now that my gram has passed, we still help my Aunt with all the prep work. It's a great tradition and my favorite part of the holiday.

    Ooh, that sounds good!

My family gathers at my parents house, including FI's parents since we started dating.  It's a blast!  My mom does most of the cooking, but some people bring dishes as well.  This year, I signed myself up for sweet potato casserole, homemade cranberry sauce (insanely delicious!), cherry pie, apple cake, banana pudding, and pumpkin bread.  FI is definitely on toddler duty tomorrow night so I can get some of the baking started!

  • The stuffing, oh man, the stuffing!  It's always been my favorite.

In my family, the real trick is to save some room for dessert.  My grandmother loves to bake so the table is always overflowing with the best desserts!  Can't wait for some Apple Pie!!!!!

Another vote for stuffing...I could eat it hot, cold, with gravy, without gravy.  I could actually skip the turkey all together and eat stuffing.

And I'm not kidding.  Oh and wine with my cousins...does that count?? lol

We used to put on Thanksgiving plays when we were younger...there are only 4 of us cousins so it was always really fun.  We now moved on to drinking wine and playing Taboo!

My cousins and I did the same thing as kids.  Lots of memories of doing a skit of Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer and cracking up the entire family.  (Too bad we didn't have video recorders back then).  Oh, to be young again!  :-)

  • I am driving to Illinois first thing Thanksgiving morning with my FI to celebrate Thanksgiving with his Dad's side of the family.  This will be my first Thanksgiving away from my family.  His Dad informed us they are having the meal catered.  (His stepmom refuses to cook).  So, I'm not sure how this will all turn out but I love my FI so I'm sucking it up and keeping my big mouth shut when it comes to my opinions.  ;-)

LOL!!! That is awesome.  We say the same thing.  One of our famous ones was dragging my brother around in a huge box that was our "boat" and him holding a lightbulb over his head and saying he had an idea where to park or something.  SO SO funny.

    Where in Illinois?!

  • So this will be the first year that we are going out to a restaurant to eat. ( My mom is going through some health issues and does not want to cook, I understand). However, I am not looking forward to it at all because I do not like turkey or any of the trimming or ham and that is the only two options at the restaurant.

I also have to spend the day away from FI because he will be at his mom's (his parents are divorced and re-married and this is the only holiday she gets to see him for ) :( .. Overall, I am not looking forward to the day- just trying to make it through....therefore, i will induldge in WINE haha

  •  My fiance and I are hosting thanksgiving this year but I have to work the night before/morning of (got to love midnights).  So I decided to cater our meal from a great caterer down the block.  Im trying to keep it a secret because I dont want my family to be disappointed that I didnt cook the meal myself.

The difficulty lies with me being a HORRIBLE liar.  Last night my mom was asking me questions about the turkey...i.e. Did I buy it yet, How many lbs. is it, How am I going to defrost it....and I gaver super vague answers.  Pretty obvious that I have no intention of cooking a turkey. We will see if I can pull it off

  • This will be my first year of spending thanksgiving completely away from family so I have no idea what I'm going to cook or indulge on. I refuse to cook a feast and have no one to eat it

  • Umm reading all these posts is making me hungry for stuffing and thirsty for wine!

We aren't doing any Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday. My FI has an exam that day, so we are just gonna take it easy. We already had an early Thanksgiving celebration with friends a couple of weeks ago where I made the entire Thanksgiving dinner :) It turned out yummy! My favorite part has to be the stuffing and gravy... OOOH and parsnip stew... Oh and some sweet potato mash.. AH heck I like all the trimings :)

  • We go to FIs parents first (about 11ish) stuff our faces and chill till about 2.  Then we will head to my parents to eat more.  My fav things are green bean casserole and my moms homemaid mac and cheese!  We have already desided that next year thanksgiving is at our house because I am tired of having to run all day.  (my parents arent big fans of FIs father, but to damn bad)  I hope to be home and in my food coma by 6ish.  :)

  • This will also be my first Thanksgiving away from my family.  We were supposed to be going down to FI's parents' house for Thanksgiving this year, but his dad is a few bad words shy of a curse dictionary so I'm just going to work a 7 hour shift and make time and a half.  We do a pot luck at work and I currently have 3 pies in my fridge.  (Just finished the apple a few hours ago.)  Also grabbed some wine because a friend of mine takes in people to her parents' house so I'll effectively have 2 Thanksgivings, one of them with the same wine my parents usually buy because it's great with turkey.
