I don't know what to do!

So I mentioned a few days ago the Pro Cycling Challenge will be going through golden the morning after our wedding. 

I e-mailed our venue and wanted to get an update. She just called and said that they just found out last week. The city will be having a block party right on the main road in front of the hotel the same night as our wedding. So the ceremony will be outside next to the creek where there will be thousands of people on the main road and walking up and down the creek. They were going to block it off during the ceremony but because of this event they won't be allowed to! I don't know what to do! The entire main road will be blocked off and the town will be the busiest it will be all year on that day (our wedding day). I am so stressed and I don't know what to do I am sitting here crying! Why the one weekend we pick does this have to happen!

    no idea if this is an option but, can you change the time of your ceremony? maybe that would help crowd-wise and noise-wise. or can you do the ceremony inside so it won't be as busy?

    Wow, you certainly have a right to be upset! Have you talked to the venue to see if they can work with you and suggest ways to accomodate this? Do they have optional ideas for a ceremony site? Or ideas for parking? Could you have people assigned to direct people?  You could even try talking to the city to find out the exact plans for that day so that you know exactly what you're working with in terms of parking and road blockages. I feel for you...keep your head up...once you work through this, any other little snafus will probably seem trivial!

    To change the time we would have to do the 8am! Crazy, and they recommend that we rent a TENT for more privacy! Are you joking, the main reason we picked this place was for the view and the creek that was nearby! I am so stressed, I can't imagine what we would do for parking, we could have the ceremony inside but I will not do that! We are going to call tomorrow and see if we can get a refund for our deposit since the situation has changed, I don't know what they will say. I just imagine they will laugh and say its not there problem. We can't change the date, because we specifically picked this date because I am on a school break that week. 

    They told me as far as the noise that I will be in my own zone and won't even notice!! Yeah RIGHT!

    Yeah 8am is a bit early...Ugh that's annoying to have them say you'll be in your "own zone". I would definitely try to get my deposit back! Good luck!

    Well, they sent out an e-mail to my mom after they spoke with me yesterday saying that they recommended renting a tent  which would cost $1700-$2500 or there is a small chapel 3 blocks away that we could rent for the ceremony and then walk back and forth. (While there is thousands of people in golden) yep sounds like a great idea to me. 

    I couldn't sleep last night, I feel sick. My mom is going to try and get a hold of them this morning to talk about our deposit or other options. URGH I just want to give up now : /

    That's ridiculous and unacceptable that they are trying to get you to spend more money to rent a tent or chapel (not to mention that parking and hotel rooms would now be a problem)! If they are at all honest or decent, they should just admit that they can't give you the experience that you were paying them for, and give you your deposit back. Your frustration is DEFINITELY valid, but don't give up!!

    Can you change the date of your wedding?  You're still a long ways out and most vendors would probably understand and not mind as long as they were available for your new date.
