How far before wedding is ok to have b parties?

The BM is throwing my FI's bachelor party this Saturday but we still have over a month to the wedding.  Is that weird? Just curious when everyone else had theirs (if not the week before the wedding),

    A month prior is fine. My shower was actually 9 weeks before the wedding, as it was the only time my MOH could get everyone together.

    My DIL's shower was about 7 weeks before the wedding.  My DD's shower was about 6 weeks before wedding.

    My H's was about a month before the wedding. It just worked out that all his guys were in town at that time, so it made sense. I think that is about typical these days. I don't know of anyone who has there the week or night before the wedding anymore.

    A month prior is fine, even normal.  My wedding is October 2, 2010 and my b party is this weekend.  Generally the b party is a couple weeks after the shower.

    It's the people having their b-parties 8 months before the wedding that are looked at a little funny.

    Mine's going to be 3 weeks before the wedding. Usually showers and b-parties are fine if they're less than 2-3 months before the wedding. I've heard of having showers even earlier though if a lot of people have to travel from out of town or the bride is away at school or something.

    H and I had our stag and bachelorettes on the same night.  They were 5 weeks before the wedding.  My shower was 7 weeks before the wedding.  I think its much more common now for B-parties to be held farther away from the wedding than sooner.  i have a friend getting married in 2 weeks and her FI's stag is the weekend before, which in our area is really wierd.

    I usually see b-parties being thrown anywhere from 2 months before the wedding. It's more often then not that they're within a month of the wedding. Ours were 3 weeks before the wedding which was perfect timing.

    My FI actually requests that he wants his minimun 2-3 weeks before the wedding. A lot of his friends are huge drinkers and he doesn't want to be feeling "ill" right before the wedding. I think that this is a really good idea.

    My B-party was about 2 months before.. only because it was the only weekend that worked for all of the BM's, DF's will be in a few more weeks.

    My fiances was last weekend which was about a month out and worked out that everyone was free that night.  Mine will be over labor day - 2 weeks before the wedding because that's when all of the BM's could do it.  Plus its a 3 day weekend so that gives us an extra day to recover.  :)  It is so not weird to do it a month or so early - I know a lot of couples that have done that!

    My shower is about 6 weeks before the wedding & the bachelorette party isn't until the weekend before the wedding.

    I had a friend that had hers over a year before her wedding because she and her future husband were moving to Minnesota because he is in the army.  I think that it is really up to personal opinion how early is too early.  Also sometimes there are reasons that neccessitate an early bridal shower.

    I'm having the bachelorette party 6 weeks before the wedding because it is the sole weekend that all of us were in town and available.  The guys are having the bachelor party 3 weeks before the wedding for the same reason and the bridal shower is going to be exactly 1 month out from the wedding... Nobody's said anything to us about it being weird timing but either way, it's the only weekends that worked so it's going down that way whether it's weird or not lol

    I am having my bachelorette party about 2 months before the wedding. We are having a destination wedding, so we want those having to travel for both to have time to recover financially from the b party before the wedding. :)

    Yeah I had my parties way early because it was the only time I could travel.  My bach party was in late July - I'm getting married in six weeks so that means it was around 4-5 months early.  And FI's family threw me a shower in early August, and my own family threw me a shower over Labor Day weekend.  I think there are guidelines on these things, but I would also say that what matters most is what works for you and the guests at these parties.  I wouldn't be having any showers or bach parties if they were to occur in the next six weeks.
