Groom's gift

What are you ladies getting your groom?  I have tossed around a few ideas from a watch to a video camera but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet.  I do know this isn't something everyone does but FI and I decided it's something we want to do.  :)

Re: Groom's gift

  • WE said it was something we weren't going to do, but FI can't turn down an opportunity to buy presents, so he got me something anyway.
His birthday is a week before our wedding (he has asked for a chainsaw)
So for the wedding I'm getting him a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue and a funny note "You're gonna need this after today, you're stuck with me now!"   Saving my sappy lines for the vows.
  • I got my FI a watch he's been eyeing for a while now. Going to get in engraved with our wedding date.

Also making a grooms survival kit - decided on giving him one gift back with a bunch of little gifts wrapped up & numbered for him to open in order -

    1. In case you get cold feet (socks)
    2. To calm your nerves (mini bottle of alcohol)
    3. To keep you from drowning in emotion (lifesavers)
    4. For your nervous stomach (tums)
    5. For our first kiss (gum)
    6. In case you forget the essentials (2 ring pops)
    7. For your tears (tissue)
    8. For the wedding night (lingerie)
    9. For the honeymoon (not sure yet... something sexual I guess)

And then the last box will be his watch with the note - "And this gift... 10. so you make it to the ceremony on time!"

I love this idea. I may have to add this to my gift.

I made a book of 101 things. Pictures of us, quotes, places to go together, reasons I love FI. A whole bunch of random things.

I love your ideas! I wanna steal it! I gotta say, this sounds like something I woukd come up with, but I didn't.

I'm also gonna get him an iPad. He needs something with powerful computing power for his schoolwork that's also light and portable, and right now, Android is making me sad. Stepping over to the dark side with Apple, lol

  • I'm really nervous about my gift for Fiance. We can't keep secrets or suprises so I know what he got me, a beautiful saphire and diamond bracelet, matching earrings and right hand ring for me to wear for the wedding (our wedding colors are shades of blue). I am a stay at home mom so he makes all the money and if I took a good chunk out he would notice and most likely see where and what I spend it on. He is also the hardest person in the world to shop for. He is trh type of person who will only buy himself something if he absolutley needs it and it is on serious sale, he is much a more a giver than a reciever. The only things he every truley loves are either fanatasy gifts that I could never afford or handmade heartfelt things. I have already made hima steeler's quilt and other items but for the wedding I was thinking of going back to an old promise. When we first started dating I got the urge to do a project, i sew and crochet and decided on crocheting) he came iwth me to the store and picked out a yarn for me to crochet him a scarf. Well for some reason every time I started it I didn't like the way it came out and would rip it apart and restart, eventually i just gave up and he has always busted my balls about it. I plan on giving him 2 boxes, the first would be the original scarf i was supposed to make him with a note that says something along the lines of "I know I don't always follow through on everything, but our marriage is something i will never give up on" then the second box would contain 4 more scarves I will have crocheted with a note that says "and I will exceed your expectations and blow your mind every step of the way or I'll go above and beyond for us always" I haven't exactly figured out the wording of the notes yet but thats the basic jist.

You ladies have such good ideas! Your idea is so sweet and thoughtful. I also love the grooms survival kit above, I'll have to steal that idea! =)

  • I am getting my FI a watch. His b'day is two days later and a really big  gift awaits him then .
    Anniversary
  • I gave him a nice watch as an engagement gift.  So I got him cufflinks (he LOVES cufflink shirts) with his monogram on them, and a custom silver box with his monogram and the USMC emblem (the eagle, globe & anchor - he's a USMC 1st Lt).  I'm hoping he'll use the little box to keep the cufflinks, and also some of his small uniform pieces.

  • LOVE the idea of doing the box for the day of!  I was planning on doing something similar with snacks and stuff but it might need to be a little more detailed now!   I think for my FI an HD video camera is the way to go.  He would be shocked and would use it all the time!

Hmm...I'm not sure yet. If I got him a watch he would NEVER wear it. I am going to get him a bunch of fun little travel essentials for our honeymoon but would like to get him something nicer too.

He is building me a desk as my gift (it was supposed to be a surprise but he let it slip, I knew I was getting a piece of furniture but the actual item was supposed to be a secret) so I need to step up my game!

  • I did boudior pictures for him. I can't wait to give them to him. They turned out amazing!!! I also got him some cologne.
  • I did boudoir pics and got him a pair of diving goggles with a camera in them. I'm waiting until our honeymoon to give them to him though.

  • I am really struggling with this, I have no clue what to get him! He really isn't into "stuff" and I have done the nice watch and boudoir pictures. Hmmm.
