Workout Accountability: Friday!

Wohoo it's Friday!

Finished week three today after a butt-kicking kempo day yesterday, and decided to take measurements early because I realized measurement time next week (end of phase one) would also be that time of the month (and I bloat like whoa.)
Not thrilled.  I did lose a tiny bit from my thighs and waist, but that's it (full disclosure-I'm at that last 10-15 lb point, and it's a b*tch.)
FI has been monitoring everything (he's a personal trainer) and swears it's from my complete inability to manage stress.  Diet is on, workout is on, so I have got to get better at this stress thing to make all of this working out worth my time.
Tomorrow starts week four, which is a recovery week, so I may add some running in just to help things along and help de-stress.

Food for the weekend should be good.  We're going to Seasons 52 tonight, after raiding the Lilly Pulitzer warehouse sale, which I LOVE because I can literally pick anything I want off of the menu.  (The whole premise of the restaurant, for those of you who haven't been, is that every single dish is under 500 calories - sides and all included.)  I'll probably go only about 200 calories over, which will be from their delicious dessert mini indulgence I plan on ordering.
Tomorrow night we're going to a big birthday bash that's being catered by an Italian restaurant, so I'm hoping there's a few salad options, or at least something not covered in cheese.

What's everyone up to this weekend? TGIF!

Edit: Holy long post Batman!  Sorry!
Anniversary

I'm new arond here, but I thought I'd join in.

I did my usual friday weigh in this morning and I'm down 1.5 lbs this week.

I usually eat clean and exercise daily. I like tracking all of this stuff because it keeps me very motivated to hear of others succeeding on their weight loss/fitness goals!!

Happy Friday (time to drink some whiskey)
  • Good morning everyone!

I got in a walk yesterday afternoon and then made it to the gym after work. I only did a couple of sets with weightlifting focusing only on my arms, then I dived into cardio. Got 20 minutes on the stairmaster, 25 minutes on the elliptical and 20 on the treadmill.

I'm traveling to Detroit this weekend so I'm worried about getting enough activity in and I'm also worried about all the bad eating opportunities (going to a couple of birthday parties).

  • Good Morning!

    Good job everyone!
*entropic OMG birthdays are the worst! Especially if there's pizza (for me at least) or if they're at a restaurant yikes! I am sure you'll do better than most of the guests there though :)

Today, I will be doing a 30 day shred work out and hopefully a bike ride with the FH after he gets off of work. I will be focusing on not taking in excess sugar via drinks today and we will be having pizza for dinner but no meat, just veggies and I will order a medium not our normal large.

Thanks for the inspiration and have a great weekend!
  • I didn't go the gym on Wednesday or Thursday this week.  After I finish this message, I'm out the door to workout.  I did walk about 1 mile on Wednesday, so that's better than nothing.  My eating has been on track, and with the slightly higher calorie level I switch to, I'm feeling less starved.
Today is 35 mins on the elliptical and 30 minutes of weights.  I'm going to the Mets game tonight, followed by an REO Speedwagon concert.  We're brining our own dinner and I plan to wander the stadium between baseball and music.  One lap of the field level is .4 miles, so I'm hoping to walk that three times although I won't be moving all that quickly.

  • You ladies are so motivating!  I have been ok, not great, eating, but haven't worked out since Tuesday.  I am going to the gym at lunch time today to do weights and cardio.  And will go with FI tomorrow.  Have a great weekend!

  • Way to go this week ladies!  Lobsters, I LOVE Seasons 52!

This morning we lifted legs & took spin.  I'm excited for this weekend because it's my final fitting, UNLESS I've lost more than 1/4 inch since my last one.  If so, then I have to go back next week too.  We'll see.  The dress shop is near my parents' house in PA, which is about 2 1/2 hours away, so it's not exactly really convenient to go there.  So in a way, I am kind of hoping I didn't lose more than 1/2 inch so I don't have to go back next weekend.  I feel so crazy for saying that since I've been so focused on losing in the last 6 months!

    Have a great weekend!

Feeling so good this morning. My weekly weigh in showed a loss of 2.8lbs!!! So i'm down 9.4lbs total. I'm so happy, I have been really trying and it's starting to show. I also finished week 2 of C25K and starting week 3 tonight!

Glad to hear everyone is having good success also.
  • Hi everyone.  Sounds like you've all had really good weeks!

Yesterday was fine, stayed within my calories, even with going out to dinner.  Got in a short walk before dinner, and then a 2.5 mile run after dinner, which I hadn't previously planned on, but I'm so glad I did it.  This weekend is going to be crazy with dinners out w/ friends tonight, dinner w/ family tomorrow, brunch w/ family on Sunday for Father's Day, and then a graduation dinner on Monday.  VERY nervous!  I'm motivated as can be right now, but when it's actually time to resist temptation, things can go very wrong, lol.

Planning on a walk at lunch today, then will likely walk downtown for dinner.  Should get in a few miles that way.

  • Got back from London last night was travelling for almost 24 hours.  Managed to get a 30 minute walk in at Schipol airport.  That airport is great for walking a very long concourse with shops and long terminals.

As you know I was very worried about staying on track, my goal was to just not gain any weight this week.  I was elated when I got on the scale this morning and had lost 2 pounds.  It goes to show that I can make healthy decisions when travelling and still enjoy myself.  It was just about not overindulging.   The best thing about the 2 pound weight loss is that puts me at 15 pounds lost since January!

  • I got in 35 min. of elliptical this morning and my eating was good yesterday.  The only sort of bad news is that my weekly weigh-in showed no change. The scale can be frustrating. I feel really good and my once-tight clothes are fitting better so I'll just keep on trucking.

This weekend we're in VT with all of our college friends for an unofficial reunion we do each year.  I'm hoping to get in lots of hiking and swimming to balance out the food and drinks.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Hi Everyone! Happy Friday!

@Lobsters - I hope that running will help you to de-stress. You've definitely been working hard and deserve to see that inch loss! Good luck to you! I'll send you zen vibes from Alberta.. And I really wanna try that Seasons 52! I'm going to have to google them to see where they are. Then I can try them out next time I'm in the US!

@Kwith - I hope you don't get sick! Vitamin C! Sorry you're feeling low self-esteem lately - I posted on the body confidence post but you could read that one too. I just don't want to type it all out again for your post :) It sorta applies!

Eating for me was good yesterday, and I walked the dog so got in a little bit of exercise on a rest day. Today I weighed in and am down 2.2 lbs from last week! I really wish that it was just 0.4 more though, because then I'd be half way! As of right now I'm 29.6 pounds down and my goal is 60.

Today I'm going to get some exercise in, probably in the form of a run, because this weekend may end up being a doozy. I'm flying to Vancouver tonight for my Grandma's memorial service which is tomorrow. Then we come back Sunday early evening. The only trouble is that we'll be eating out all of the time we're there.. so that can be dangerous. Wish me luck and good food choices.

  • Being able to post here definitely helped me stay motivated and on track.   It's amazing what a little accountability can do :)   I was also lucky that my coworkers were supportive of me and not forcing me to drink or eat sweets.

  • Hi All!

Last day at my current job so I haven't been on here much!

Yesterday was a rest day, I walked one mile with the dog and then did some laundry and got caught up on thank you notes for pre-shower gifts. It felt AMAZING to give my muscles a break!

This morning I did 1.5 miles befor work, 1/2 walking 1/2 running but up and down the hill so it wasn't easy. Getting ready for one last walk with some coworkers then its out to celebrate a new adventure! Hopefully my eating stays on track this weekend.

Wow, Lobsters! Thanks for the tip. I had no idea about Seasons 52. Sounds like the perfect restaurant for me when we want a night out. Maybe we'll try that tomorrow!

  • kwitherington - We think my FI also has bronchitus! It sucks! It started as a cold and every time we think he's better it comes back again. Trying to talk him into seeing a dcotor.

I have stuck to my short workouts every night this week so far. This afternoon I took 1/2 day off from work to help take some VIP's sailing on the tall ship I volunteer for. I was on my feet for about 4 hours straight and spent some time hauling lines, so that will have to count for today. Going to a party with "light refreshments" tonight. Planning a 1/2 sized version of leftovers from last nights' dinner ahead of time so I have 400 calories saved for wine and those refreshments.

BTW, I was very satisfied with last nights dinner. I did grilled chicken parm with a side of spaghetti squash in place of pasta.

  • PT yesterday morning.  He was a little nicer than usual, but that's probably because he tried to break my legs off last week.  Every now and then we have an "OH MY GOD WHY DO YOU HATE ME" workout day. Last week was one of those, this week wasn't as bad.  Though he did reintroduce an old unfavorite.  I was not thrilled and apparently, neither was my left shoulder.  Got 2 1/2 sets in and my shoulder just screamed (the one hurt in the car accident.  It's better, but clearly not fantastic).  Fortunately, he knows my limitations and we quit there.  Hopefully we'll be able to work and build  up the strength there!

Eating was bad but it was a cheat day.  This morning was also bad (I had starbucks), but this afternoon will be back on the wagon train and doing better!  Resetting myself for next week.

No change in weight, very small changes in body shape, but it is what it is.  I just try to remind myself to be patient.  It's a year's worth of mistreating myself, it's not going to come off overnight!

Today I'm trying to decide on what cardio I want to do...Another 2 mile run or HIIT.  I'm on call, so it'll probably be HIIT!
