Bridal luncheon day before wedding: bad idea?

My SIL offered to host a luncheon for me the day before the wedding (I'm not having a shower or bachelorette party). She thinks that the day before will be a good day because most out-of-state guests will already be in town by then, so it won't be hard to get everyone together. Part of me says that everything should be done by the afternoon of the day before, but part of me worries that I'll be going crazy with last-minute tasks and won't be able to relax and enjoy a luncheon.

Are you doing anything the day before your wedding? For those of you already married: did you have any kind of party/celebration the day before, and, if so, did it get in the way of last-minute tasks?

  • I had my bridal luncheon the day before for moms and my bridesmaids. It was very relaxed and everyone was able to come except one BM. By that point in time I had everything done so I wasn't rushed to complete any last-minute tasks.

  • I didn't have a bridal luncheon. I did have two showers and a b-party that were a month or so before the wedding.

The only thing we had going on the day before the wedding was the rehearsal/RD in the evening. During the day I got my toes and nails done, finished up a couple last-minute items and tried to relax.

I would say having the luncheon the day before is fine. She is right in that it might be more convenient for those she's inviting if they're already in town for the wedding. Plus if you are feeling stressed out, it might calm your nerves to have something fun to do to get your mind off things and be around friends.

  • My BM's and mom will be going out to lunch and getting mani's and pedi's before the RD.
  • mine is in the 3 or 4 week range from my wedding so i  have plenty of time   the day before my wedding to decorate for my wedding.
