Ordering Invitations - Final Wording Check Please

Okay, I know these wording questions get posted all the time, and I think I have it right from looking at previous posts, but I was hoping you could all give it a quick look before I order them! Also we are having a full mass, are both baptised Catholics, and my parents are generously paying for the vast majority of our wedding. Also don't pay too much attention to capitalization as everything but our names will be in all caps. Thanks!

Re: Ordering Invitations - Final Wording Check Please

  • you have an extra "e" in Twelve

i personally dont care for the "son of" line although many today are doing it.  however, tradtionally, the grooms parents names never went on a wedding invitation - they went on the wedding annoucements.

  • I think it should be "and" not "to" between your name & your Fiance's name.

  • I personally think the lines about Holy Matrimony and Nuptial Mass are a bit wordy.
We did something like "request the honor of your presence at the nuptial mass in which their children <names> will be united in the sacrament of holy matrimony." (obviously could be easily changed to put the parent's names where you want them)

I think this would be my only suggestion.

"And" denotes that the two of you are entering the marriage together.

  • Thank you so much for the suggestions. I had twelve correct on the actual invite, it was rewriting it into the forum that I had a typo so that's fixed. I substituted and for to. You guys are right that makes much more sense, invite template from place I am ordering had to and I didn't think about it.

I'm undecided on the son of. I oringally put it there because I didn't want FILs to be upset, but I haven't really talked to them about it. FI thinks they won't care but he hasn't acutally asked them.
