We probably never should have gotten started in customs and traditions.  They are reaming me over there :(  There is so much intense hatred for the church!

    I'm following that thread, too. It makes me sad. Especially that one poster who accused you of blindly doing what you are told and checking your conscence at the door simply because you're a Catholic.

    Tonight I'm eating dinner and talking about religion with a few of my ELCA friends. We don't talk about specific denominations much, but last week we did and all three of them, one in particular, told me how much they love the Catholic church and think it's awesome, even if it's not perfect. It made me really happy. Most ELCA people I know have a positive opinion of the Church, but it's always nice when they make a point of telling me that they don't have any hatred towards the Church.

    That is so nice and reassuring to hear when someone who isn't catholic actually likes the church!

    Oh man! I posted and then got distracted with other things -- I'm sorry to have set you up like that! I just get annoyed when people don't have the facts. I usually post and walk away, because it's not worth the argument. That one, though, turned super-ugly. Ugh. I really need to stay away from the international boards.

    I agree with Chloeagh -- you've handled yourself well. I appreciate you sticking up for me. :)

    **hugs** I'm feeling better about things today. I hope you are, too.

    My understanding is that most non-Catholic religions have some element of Truth and reflect man's search for Truth, but are distorted in certain ways (some much more than others). The Church alone, being from Christ, has the fullness of Truth.
