Sirata or Sand Key Beach Resort

I'm planning my wedding from Iowa for the St. Pete/Clearwater, FL area....I'm stuck on which resort to have my wedding and reception at! We have about 50 people coming (mostly from Iowa). I love Sand Key based purely on their website and the friendly responses I have gotten, but I don't want to regret my decision? Has anyone seen both resorts that can tell me which is nicer?

Any help would be appreciated!

THANK YOU!!!

If you're talking about the Sheraton Sand Key (there's also a Marriott on Sand Key so I wasn't sure), you can't go wrong with either the Sheraton or Sirata. If the Sheraton is you #1 pick, I wouldn't hesitate. I've stayed there many times, and the hotel is nice, staff is great, location is beautiful. If you are planning on doing a beach wedding out near the water, just keep in mind it is a lengthy walk in the sand out to the water from the hotel. I've been to a wedding at the Sheraton and it was great. Our friends that got married were very satisfied. The food was some of the best I've had at an event. I just stayed there this past weekend and there was a smaller wedding party having their dinner at Rusty's (the hotel restaurant) and it was very nice. Not sure what your date is, but make sure to ask them about any planned renovations. They are definitely sprucing things up (paint, wallpaper, etc) which is great but just make sure they don't have any large scale things planned.

Now we actually chose to do our June 2012 wedding at the Sirata so I of course would recommend there as well. They have great reviews, staff has been great and they have a lot of ceremony/reception location options. The hotel rooms at the Sheraton are nicer. However, there is more to do within walking distance to the Sirata (restaurants, bars, etc.). Sand Key is more so surrounded by condos and Sand Key Park but Clearwater is only a couple of minutes away. Sheraton is a little more low key than Sirata. Love them both!

Congrats on the engagement & the baby!!!  I'm a Sirata bride to be (Nov 4) and everyone I have encountered has been great.  We have a lot of out of town guests & all are staying there & can't wait.  I've never been to the Sheraton or Marriott @ Sand Key so I can't help there.

    Good luck!

Yes, the Sheraton Sand Key is what I'm talking about....It is a really hard decision because I won't be able to go to either place before the wedding (which is either in late April/early May). They both get similar reviews, I'm just really having a hard time choosing. I guess I didn't even think about the surroundings, my family does like shopping, etc. Thanks for the help......I just don't know what to do!!!
