We were originally going to do notepad/pen favors, but now we're up in the air again. I'm thinking about truffles. Maybe a peanutbutter one & milk chocolate one in a little personalized box. What do you all think?
The chocolate boxes will always be a good idea. FWIW, I did receive a notepad and pen at a wedding as a favor. It wasn't personalized to the B&G, just the theme of their wedding. It's still on the front hallway table being used for notes between FI and me.
Chocolate = yummy! Two fancy truffles would be exactly what I want from a wedding. One of the girls on my board is doing something similar and she is having them on the plates whe people arrive. But I don't think that looks cheap anyway.
I think 2 fancy truffles would be great! I was at a wedding this summer that did that, and both BF and I really liked them. The bride decorated the plain white boxes a little to match the rest of the decor. They looked cute on the table.
That said, I would tend to lean away from peanut butter. It's just asking for problems, because so many people are so very allergic to it (I know people who need their epi pen (sp?) just from the smell). Both BF and I are sensitive to it, and therefore we can't eat it, and try to avoid anything that might have been near it.
thx for the comments, I guess I'm in the stage now when I'm doubting ALL of our decisions! lol As far as the allergy, I never thought about that, a layer of our cake might be choc w/peanutbutter too!
Truffles sound really good, but I would steer clear of anything peanut butter - you never know who has allergies! My MOH and FI's sister are both allergic to ALL nuts, so I have made sure there will be no nuts whatsoever at our reception.
As for your wedding cake, just make sure your guests know what is in each layer, and have the cake cutter use different knives so there is no cross -contamination. Better safe than sorry!
I love the truffles, but ad just one more. there is something about odd numbers, in particular the number 3 that people respond much better to. I am in marketing and have seen it a bunch of times with our give-aways. We did 2 50 page notepads for a while at my last place, shrink wrapped with 2 candies, and got much better response when we switched to 3 candies. Then when we switched to 3 33 page notepads with 3 candies, people really liked them better. At my new job we always leave 3 mousepads and notepads for the teams of designers who come, unless we know the specific number in party ahead of time. Even if there are 4-5 people, they still like the presentation.

Life is good today.
I was at a wedding fairly recently where the truffles were customized in the wedding colors. It was a really nice touch.
