Bridesmaid dress question - all get from same store or pick on their own?

Bridesmaid dresses will be different shades of browns... Do I get all the girls together and take them to Davids Bridal to pick whatever brown they want in whatever dress style they like best, or let them pick on their own time at whatever store they choose?

I don't mind what brown color or style they want. I like the idea of having them all together just to get an idea as to what everything will look like all together - a good visual for me.
But at the same time I have girls on a tight budget and don't want them to feel pressured to spend beyond their means.

If anyone let the girls pick on their own - how did the colors all come together?

That's really up to you. If it will be difficult to get them all together to shop, let them do it on their own time. Initially I told my girls just to get a champagne colored dress from anywhere, but then I decided I wanted something with a pattern so we went together to find it.

I think you should do both! First, go shopping with them all together at David's so you can decide together what you are going for. Then, if they find something there, they can buy it, and anyone who doesn't can pick up something somewhere else. From a BM-point of view, I would want to know what everyone else was planning to wear so I could feel coordinated in some way. Plus, it would be a fun opportunity for everyone to get together! I recommend building in a lunch or dinner before or after and making a fun day of it.

It's a good idea to give them at least a couple of guidelines so that they will feel they are looking in the right direction. For example, I told my girls to pick their dresses in a certain color, and in full length. Everything else was open season.

They did all decide to order from the same store. However, in case they found one elsewhere that they loved, I ordered swatches from that site in the color I wanted, and mailed it to everyone.

That way they physically had the color in their hand while they shopped. It worked out perfectly because one BM had a last minute alterations snafu that ruined her dress. With no time to order a replacement, she went hunting at a local JCPennys. You wouldn't even know it looking at the pictures though.
