Bride's Gift to the Groom

I have heard various people saying the bride and groom each give a gift to each other for the wedding. When does this take place? Do I give him the gift the day of the wedding while he is getting ready and have someone send it to him? Do I give it at the rehearsal dinner? or do I give it to him the night of the wedding when we get back to our hotel?

When my sister got married, they exchanged gifts while getting ready. I'm pretty sure my dad was the go-between (but it's been awhile, so my memory could be a bit fuzzy).

Ha! I think this is definitely a newer tradtion and I had never had any friends do it before coming on TK. My husband and I joked that we were each other's gift. We splurged on our HM, so that was our gift to each other. We paid for everything ourselves and didn't want to spend more money on ourselves.

If you choose to do this, it all depends on if you want it to be a private event just between you and your husband such as doing it after the ceremony or more of a family thing by doing it at the RD. I think either is fine.

My FI & I will be exchanging gifts - I'm getting him flying lessons! I'll give him the gift certificate after the wedding, when it's just us 2 in the hotel room.

We decided we want to write each other love-letters instead of giving gifts. We thought it would be nice while we are both nervous to do something to calm each others nerves. And not spend more money... which neither of us have, LOL

My FI and I are exchanging gifts before the wedding my maid of honor will bring his gift to him (I bought him six shooter cuff links, that he is going to wear at the wedding.) I didn’t ask what he got me but his best man will bring it to my hotel room while I am getting married. We talked about it before and agreed that it would be something that we could wear for the wedding. I have heard of other people writing love letter and that is a sweet element I think that I am going to attach a note with my gift.

I personally don't see a point to a gift on top of everything else. FI and I are paying for the major vendors for the wedding, the rings and splurging on the honeymoon plus actually getting married will be enough of a gift.

Though I think the love letter idea that JoyMatt424 posted is really cute and sentimental!

I am getting him a gift and will give it to him during our first look I think. I'm not sure if he's planning on getting me anything! I don't expect anything big though since he did buy the e-ring.

We exchanged gifts while we were getting ready. I had my sister bring it to him and she returned with mine. It made for some great photos.

thanks for all the input! So many cute ideas.... My fiance is in a band so I definitely wanted to do something musical. I got him the new ipod touch and engraved "you are the rock to my roll.' then the date of our wedding. We are going to write love letters to go with it because i think that would ease some stress before the ceremony as someone above mentioned. Maybe we will do the letters before the ceremony and then the gifts after the wedding when we get back to our hotel room. i just want to make sure it is a sweet and sentimental moment.

My mom gave my dad a watch on their wedding day, not sure if he gave her something.

H & I opted out of that. We paid for a lot of the wedding ourselves, we were just happy to be getting married. No need for anything else--we felt we were gift enough to each other! I'm sure we'll do something special at Christmas. Maybe.

I did slip a card into his overnight bag the day before. And hid it in in clothes hoping he wouldn't find it til the morning of. I think I did write on the back of the envelope "do not open til August 14", just in case!

We decided no gifts. But, since he spent a lot more on my e-ring than he had budgeted for-- I'm surprising him with a kick ass grooms cake and I also upgraded our honeymoon package to an oceanfront room that came with a bunch of extra perks (couples massage, private candlelight dinner on the beach, breakfast in bed, etc). So cannot wait until he finds out

for the first year of our relationship we wrote each other letters as we were living 2 hours away from each other, so i'm typing them all out (TIME CONSUMING!!!) and having them bound. i am going to add a new letter that he can read while getting ready and my MOH is bringing him another book along with the letters, i'm getting boudoir shots done of me in my wedding corset so he can think of whats under the dress all day

My sister is the only person that i have ever seen get a gift, but it was just flowers. I have never really heard of this before coming to TK.

My gift will be moving to his home state, lol

No, i think we will probably save the money for the HM and house.

we decided not to do this, but I do want to do some splurges on the honeymoon... like a sweatshirt or something as a memory... "yeah, I got this on my honeymoon!" But the idea of a love note is super cute and I just might have to use it
