Flower suggestions?

Hi all :)  We're still trying to narrow down flowers and I was wondering two things:

1. Silk/Real touch flowers vs. Real?
2. If real, do any of you have any suggestions for reasonably priced florists here in town? We have 6 in the party on each side (wish I could take that choice back... $$$... oops), so it gets expensive quick!

    If you go with real, check out blossoms florist on Montgomery. Her prices are amazing!

    I'm using Mary's Country House.  She has really worked with our budget to create beautiful arrangments that we can afford.  The other florists I met with began with what I "needed" and told me a price which was usually 2-3 times my budget.  Mary started with our budget and told us what she could do for that price.

    We are using the True Touch flowers from Hobby Lobby. It is saving us a ton of money, especially since they are often half off. If you or someone you know is crafty enough to make the bouquets and all, I would go that route if you want to save money! :)

    We used All About Flowers in Cheviot. They don't have a large store front which translates to lower overhead and lower prices. She worked with our budget and was super sweet. Everything arrived on time and in good condition.

    Definitely have some ideas about types of flowers you like and then they can suggest alternatives that may be less expensive.

    We're using "All About Roses - Secret Garden" in Florence, KY.  It's a small florist shop off Mt. Zion Road in NKY. 

    15 tables with hydrangea centerpieces
    2 ceremony wreaths
    1 bridal bouquet
    1 MOH bouquet
    3 bouquets for MOB, MOG, GOB
    7 for the guys
    flowers for cake

    <$500.  No, I am not kidding.

    I know it sounds kind of strange, but I HIGHLY recommend you check out Kroger (yes, as in, the grocery store) and their floral department. My best friend just got married on a super tight budget, ordered the flowers from Kroger (which we were all a little "iffy" about), and they were GORGEOUS. I think she spent around $300 for all of the bouquets, boutineers, centerpiece flowers (which she arranged herself), and extra cake flowers. While my budget is a little more flexible than hers for my wedding next fall, I'm going with Kroger hands down...since it's a little bit of a smaller operation, everybody there was super friendly and willing to work with our budget.

    Oh, I overlooked the part about florist recommendations.

    I strongly recommend Susan Foy The Wedding Designer.  We compared her quote to Krogers and she gave more bang for the buck!  And her arrangements were nicer!  She is a floral designer, not just an ordinary florist, so she has a lot of beautiful ideas.  She also delivered and it was stress-free.

    I did all the flowers myself, all silk flowers. Went and got them in a couple trips to Garden ridge. Along with vases, floral foam and the surrounding candles, it cost less than $200. Plus, since they were silk, I was able to space out the work of putting them together over time.

    I didn't hear anything bad about the centerpieces from anyone. In fact, I heard many positive comments about how beautiful they were. I only got Real Touch roses for my bridal bouquet. The centerpieces are one of those things guests really don't care about, and only really look at during dinner, so I opted to reduce its space in my budget.

    What kind of flowers did your friend get from Kroger? My flower budget is not that much larger, so it would be helpful to get a frame of reference. As for the topic at hand...I don't have any experience w fake flowers. I love flowers I have always wanted real flowers at my wedding. I decided it was more important to me to have real versus having more fake flowers. Though, I definitely think some fake flowers look pretty realistic. You would then have the added benefit of them not dying.
