You may now call me Rev. Zulamay (includes questions)

I just became ordained so that I could marry my friends this summer.  :D I find this hysterical and slightly disturbing that all I had to do was fill out an online form.

A couple of questions...

1. If anyone has done this before...what did you have to do to register with the county?
2. Any suggestions on what makes a great ceremony beyond just having a few personal antedotes of the couple?  We will not do anything faith-based in the ceremony, nor will there be any breaks for songs.  We will do a unity candle or something like that.  But beyond google searches I'm a bit lost as to what I should incorporate beyond the required "I do."

  • I can't help you with your questions but I do think that's pretty funny too! Congrats haha

  • hey - are you actually going to be performing the wedding within Wayne county/Detroit city limits?

If so, please let us know the process when you figure it out! I'm likewise trying to get a friend ordained and I have no clue what the rules/regulations are to make it legal.

  • Ok, I think I am going to call today and ask.  My friend at work says that she knows someone who did it, and is going to try to get details.

<div>We are actually doing the marriage in Grand Rapids, but since all of us live in Oakland County, we will file there. </div>
