NYE Wedding good or bad idea??? So stressed right now.

I am planning a NYE wedding this year 2012, I read most of the comments and I am so indecisive right now. Is this a good idea or not...I think this is a great Idea, I love the thought of having a NYE wedding

  • Well it's your wedding, so as long as you and your fiance want it and can make it happen then go for it! I would recommend giving people more of an advanced noticed and you will need to book a venue ASAP!!

  • Agree with PP. You might also consider that your reception site will need to allow you to stay longer than a usual venue would allow. My venue requires that people are out and everything cleaned up by midnight.

    Just something to consider.

I would also go into it knowing that not all of your friends / family will attend due to the time of year.

  • I wanted a NYE wedding because I thought it would be such a great idea espeically since i'm having a smaller wedding (80 people) but by the time I looked into it the venue, DJ, hair/make up, and photo booth charged extra because it was on NYE. And I was afraid some people would already have plans.

So we decided to go with Dec 29. I figured this was a great date because it's the Saturday before and we can also still have a NYE themed wedding if we wanted....we decided not on doing that. But if you really wanted a NYE wedding and it's around that time, that might be a good option for you and have a count down and everything.

Good luck...don't stress it will be great either way!
  • i am having one and everyone is super excited.... some things where more expensive but most things where the same it falls on a monday so you may be compete with holiday parties!!
    Good Luck

  • I think it sounds cool, I would go...

Except thinking about it, you might want to have it AT a hotel if you can. Why? Because NYE is the deadliest night of the year because of drunk drivers. So if your guests could leave your reception and go to their rooms that would be very cool. But of course, some will risk it anyway.

I could see why it'd be hard to get vendors, but if you are deterined I am sure you could make it work.

  • I am having a NYE wedding at a hotel. Great prices for it falling on a Monday. Super excited for the day to come.
