Bmore

I am going absolutely bonkers trying to work on this OOT brochure using Powerpoint. You are an absolute rockstar for how yours turned out!

Mine looks like a kindergarten project.

Re: Bmore

  • hahahaha I had no idea where to start!! this is one of the only projects I am entrusting my fiance with. I am hoping he starts working on it soon!
  • Seriously, I am so stupid at this stuff.

  • ha well making powerpoints is stupidly big part of my day job, so I've picked up some tips. What is tripping you up? What to write, or just formatting it?

  • Mostly the formatting! I suck at it. I've tried it in Powerpoint and then switched to Word, but it's really not going any easier there.

I just can't make it pretty!

  • I much prefer PowerPoint for anything involving layouts. My template is probably a little wack b/c I just use text boxes for every little section, when it's probably not necessary. I'm happy to look at it if you're looking for specific suggestions.

Generally, I find that exploring fonts beyond Arial/Times/Helvetica makes a huge impact on the look. MS Office has a decent selection of fonts, or you can always download free fonts from sites like dafont.com. And usually smaller font sizes look nicer, with larger or bolded headers. But I would write up all the content for the brochure and get the text roughly in the part of the template you want it on, and then start worrying about formatting/layouts/headers/grapics as the final step. HTH!

  • Thanks, Bmore!

I eventually made it work in Word, but it was a massive hassle. I'm going to send to you so you can tell me what you think . . . if you have a second. If not, I still have 2 months to figure it out! :)
