  If you (or she) are willing to go outside of the box a little, consider a pub or lounge. We had ours at Zio Carlos Magnolia Brew Pub on Magnolia street. It was super casual (salad/pizzas/beer/wine) but it was very affordable. If she's willing to have it at a place that isn't 100% private, that will definitely save some cash (and may not be a huge deal depending on the time of day and week). Another similar place is Rahr Brewery. They charge $15/pp for private events (minimum of 40) for unlimited beer for 3 hours, and you can bring in any outside catering.
  
  A lot of people also recommend Times Ten Cellar on West 7th, and another pretty affordable place that we looked into was Blue Mesa on University.
