Alteration frustration

So frustrating. Went and got my dress fitted today to find out it was going to cost $450. I bought my dress at a sample sale for 430 so I am now officially paying more for my alterations than the dress. Augh!

Re: Alteration frustration

  • Thats unfortunate!!  I bought my dress as corset style to avoid alterations and am wearing high heels to not need anything taken off the length.  All I needed was a bustle, it was only 50.00 to add a bustle.  Sorry your alterations are so costly, but look at the brightside...even with alterations you are still paying less for your dress then many people.

  • That's true thanks. Yeah a lot of people spend a ton on dresses. My parents were really calming. They told me I could stress about it or not stress either way there's nothing I can do about it so mind as well not stress.
  • That's TERRIBLE! My seamstress here in Mass ONLY charged me 47.00 to take in my dress and give me a bustle. I hope you shop around for a seamstress
  • My alterations were $300, I've lost weight and needed to either take it in significantly or change it to corset, so we did that and then did an under bustle which is a bit more. I agree with your parents, I'm not going to stress out about it because it's done and I know it'll look great!
