Addressing Save the Dates...

We got our Save the Dates and I am so excited to get them addressed and ready to go!!! I was going to type the addresses and print them onto the envelopes in our wedding colors. However it is not working!! I am thinking it is because the envelopes are too small. Tried them on my home printer and the writing is just a little crooked. Tried them on my work printer and writing is even more crooked. Any suggestions? I'm assuming I will have to go a different route because the envelopes are staying straight in the printer but thought I'd ask if anyone else had this issue and how they solved it?! I'm really afraid I am going to have to bbuy and use labels and I really don't like the look of that!!!!!

Re: Addressing Save the Dates...

  • How many envelopes need to be addressed?

It sounds like the envelope is to small and is slipping around in the printer, hence the crooked printing.

Lables are pretty tacky, so if you can't get the printing directly onto the envelope to work, then I would recommend just doing it by hand.   I actually just ended up addressing everything by hand.  It really didn't take very long.  I don't have great handwriting, but it worked out just fine.  If you have a lot to do, then ask your fiance for help!

  • we have about 130. I agree with the look on labels but i'd rather use labels then my or fiances handwriting. I've seen kindergardeners that right better then us! Handwriting for us  is not an option!! If i end up buying labels I'll for sure at least buy the clear ones. i know they don't look the greatest to say the least but at least they are save the dates and not the invitations! im just so bummed because i had this image in my head of how great they were going to look!!!
  • I know what you  mean about handwriting.  Mine is horrible, and my fiance's is worse.  But honestly?  If I get something in the mail with a label on it I usually just throw it away because it looks like junk mail to me.

I know that is why I am so stressed on what to do!! Seriously though handwriting is not an option, I've had mail(bills!) returned because the post office coudln't read the address!!! I've had checks returned because the banks wouldn't cash it because they couldn't clealry read who it was made out to!! I think I've missed my calling in life, i should have been a doctor!!  I keep trying this darn printer hoping it will work!!!!
  • Could you get somebody to help you address the envelopes?  A sister or good friend?  Maybe you could bribe somebody with wine and chocolate.     Or just practice and take your time.

  • When I printed my envelopes, I used the extra tray in the back of the printer.  There were sliders where I could slide the guides to fit my envelopes instead of the traditional letter size paper.  I didn't have any problems with them printing crooked.
