China patterns? And other formal tableware?

I was responding to the thread below about the flatware, and Hoffse was talking about crystal, which I love to hear about. These are not conversations I have very much in real life. :)

So, if you are registering for china, what is your pattern? Everyday dinnerware? What about a formal flatware or silverware pattern? Did you register for crystal? Just fun to read what people like!

I will start: China pattern: Haviland Orsay, with Bernardaud Constance salad plates. Would love to collect more Constance in the future.

    Haviland Orsay: http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/homeless/haviland-five-piece-with-dessert-110440253313.html

    Constance: http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/homeless/bernardaud-salad-plate-0657017.html

Registered for Great White Traditional dinnerware at PB.

Silverware/flatware: inheriting formal silverware in Wallace Grande Baroque pattern, flatware Riley from PB.

Crystal: think I am just going to stick with Riedel for now. If I do end up asking for some, maybe Vera Wang Duchesse?
  • Our china is "Floral Illustrations" by Marchesa for Lenox (click)

Our everyday dinnerware is "Staccato" from Crate & Barrel (click)

Our flatware is "Harrison" from Crate & Barrel (click)

We did not register for real silverware.

Our crystal barware, stemware, and accessories are "Duchesse" by Vera Wang for Wedgewood (click)

I love all of it :)
  • Wow, your china is amazing. I hadn't seen that pattern before! We almost did CB because I liked the Staccato, but wanted to do Pottery Barn as well and felt weird doing both since they somewhat overlap. PB won because they had a croquet set, haha. I never saw the Harrison flatware, but like it! It looks substantial :) I forgot that we did register for some crystal barware - Reed and Barton Hamilton and Ralph Lauren Glen Plaid. Thanks for putting links, I should go back and add!

Our flatware is "Rondure" by Dansk (click)

We registered for a few different styles of Schott Zweisel stemware - Fortissimo wine glasses, Pure champagne flutes, Tossa old fashioneds

    So excited about our china.

I love formal entertaining, and a lot of people don't register for this stuff anymore it seems, great topic!

Our china pattern is Opal Innocence by Lenox (click), although we also have my grandmother's china.  I'm not a huge fan of the pattern though (I can't find it online, but it's blue roses with a platinum band), but we have 12 place settings, plus all the serving pieces, so we registered for the pattern we liked for 8.  It will coordinate nicely with my grandmother's, so we if we get our china, we could serve FI's entire family using china.

Everyday dinnerware is Italian Countryside by Mikasa (click).  We've already received all our place settings and a few serving pieces, absolutely love it.  Originally we wanted Lenox Butler's Pantry (click), but it has terrible reviews online.  I really like Italian Countryside though, maybe more than Butler's Pantry.

Silver is inherited, Rondo by Gorham (click).  We need to get some extra pieces for this, one place setting is no longer complete, and I would like to get some of the serving pieces.  There are a lot of pieces available in this pattern, so I'm looking forward to collecting more.

Flatware is J.A. Henckels Angelico (click).  This is one of the things FI cared about a lot, he went through the entire selection of flatware finding a weight he liked in an acceptable pattern.  It's probably a good thing, by the time we got to this, I didn't care so much anymore.

Crystal is Lismore Essence (click).  Originally, we were registered for Lismore, because it has a lot of the specialty glasses available, but then they came out with the champagne saucers in Essence for the pattern's anniversay, so we switched.

  • We registered for the Pillivuyt Basketweave settings at Williams-Sonoma (clicky).

I like that they can be used for informal or formal occassions, just by adding a table cloth and nice glassware.

We are already good on glassware and silverware, so we didn't register for these.

    Love this post!

We've registered for Lenox Pearl Platinum for our formal china and formal flatware

I have Gorham King Arthur as our crystal, but I've registered for some Waterford Lismore serving pieces, and FI is going to start a collection of Lismore Essence for my birthday :)

We're registering for fiesta for our everyday in many colors, Mikasa harmony for our everyday flatware, and Picardie for our everyday drinkware

And finally, Spode Christmas Tree for our Christmas pattern.

<div>And I agree that we have similar tatstes like you mentioned in the thread below - LOVE Haviland Orsay, and I actually registered for the PB Great White before I changed my mind and registered for fiesta just to brighten up our boring apartment.  At some point I'll have just solid, streamlined white dishes though!  Unless I splurge and go for the Bernadaud Louvre pattern... it's fantastic.  My mother insists that every lady needs 4 sets of dishes (formal, everyday, casual entertaining/luncheon, and holiday) - she's crazy, but it's the excuse I'm going to use with my FI once we have more space to get another set lol</div>

  • China Pattern: Wedgwood St. Moritz

Crystal: Waterford Crystal Araglin Platinum pattern

Everyday Dinnerware: Martha Stewart Classic Band Grey pattern and the Martha Stewart Avenue Square pattern. I love that you can mix and match because the colors and patterns are very similar.

Formal Flatware: It's another Waterford pattern but I forgot the name! ):

Oh, fun! I don't know how to do clicky's, I attempted with the add link button but it isn't working!!!

I picked Mikasa's Parchment for china. Its pretty low maintenance and inexpensive.

    http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/mikasa-dinnerware-parchment-collection?ID=95129&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results

    Flatware: Mikasa Cocoa Blossom

    Wine/Iced Beverage: Mikasa Swirl

We have really cute, discontinued, Square Corelle for everyday that is a really beautiful light green floral type pattern. I have 8 place settings. I may purchase plain white square corelle to go with it.  This is what it looks like, but the green is more muted and not so neon (bad lighting in this picture from replacements, ltd)

I really loved this Lenox pattern for "everyday" type settings but it is so expensive and I like what I have - so I decided against. We wanted a small registry.

However I added the set of 4 plates for decoration (plate racks or to use for serving platters).

I also added a pitcher. Its just so dang pretty!

  • I love china too! Our pattern is Noritake Platinum Wave. I love it. It's simple, elegant and timeless. I normally like loud patterns with lots of color & design, but I didn't want to outgrow my china, so I kept it simple. It's really beautiful. We registered for 12 settings of the china and the flatware and crystal that matches. We received ONE setting of the dishes and ONE goblet. We used wedding gift money to buy 3 more so now we have 4, at least.
  • We registered for Mottahedeh tobacco leaf China, I LOVE this pattern
Flatware we registered for is: Monique Lhuillier "Dentelle"

FILs already got us a complete set of Ralph Lauren China for everyday and Ralph Lauren Glen Plaid glasses. We registered for three decanters to match the Glen Plaid glasses. FI is obsessed with them.

And we registered for Riedel wine glasses: Reisling, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Champagne and port.

FI and I really really love to entertain!

    Yay, love the china threads!

    We registered for:
Formal China - Bernardaud Dune/Dune Blue (mostly Dune Blue but we are mixing in the Dune for salad plates and also mixed the Dune and Dune Blue serving pieces)
    http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/formal-china/banded/bernardaud-dune-blue-CHBERNDUBL.html?

Everyday China - Michael C Fina Trellis (turns out it is actually made by Deshoulieres and is amazing quality for the price) http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/homeless/michael-c-fina-6-pc-place-setting-_acdc_1339377957257.html

Silver - we are inheriting a set from H's parents but I do not know the pattern!

Crystal - we didn't do fine crystal but registered for a ton of lower-priced Riedel and some Simon Pearce.  Too much to do separate links!

    Edited to fix links!
  • Oh! We didn't register for any China or the like (only every day) since we don't have a use for it and didn't think anyone would get it for us but we did register (and someone got for us!) the everday set below - New Grass from Bed, Bath & Beyond!

  • Oooooh, I love this thread and love looking at what people picked out!

Fine China: Wedgewood "Oberon." I love this pattern so very much, but I know we're not going to get a lot of it.

Casual China: Lenox "Chirp." I love that it has tons of entertaining ware and also has complimentary holiday items so that I can buy those and they'll mix right in.

Everyday: Oneida Westerly Basket. It's just a white basket-weave and comes in a set, so I'm hoping it gets bought and we can throw away our mishmash of plates.

Silver: I'm inheriting a set from my grandmother, "Rambler Rose" by Towle.

    Flatware: Nicole Miller "Green Tea."

We're not doing crystal, yet. It's on my list and I'm looking at some, but I'm not sure if I want to handle having it.

Barware: We're doing our highball and old fashioned glasses as Mikasa "Cheers." Our wine glasses are all Riedel: Pinot, Cabernet, and Bordeaux.

  • China: Moss Rose, Sango, Coupe (rimless) shape, at replacements.com [Thanks AGAIN theknot, for showing me how to find replacements.com's registry feature, which used to be buried on their website]

We're just filling in a set I inherited from my great grandmother

    Everday: Fiestaware

    Already have silverware and glasses
  • So many fun patterns to look at!

BMoreBride, DivineMsBee, ECook, love all the basket weave!  I was tempted to register for the Nantucket Basketweave from Wedgewood at the same small, local fine gifts place I'm registered for china, but I didn't want to put too much at that store since FI's family is from NE Ohio and might not want to order that stuff online.

Hoffse - I'm a big fan of Spode Christmas tree!  I've been collecting the small "Annual" plates for the last few years.  And AmyNutrition, FI is also pretty excited to get heavy bar glass.  He also wants to register for the Spode Woodland dog china, which we may do closer to the wedding date.  I had no idea how much he would be interested in this stuff.  He actually enjoyed registering at the local fine gifts place the most, and registering for Simon Pearce and silver trays and stuff.  Who knew!?  :)

DivineMsBee, I loved Oberon too.  I almost went with that before going with my simple white and gold.  The green accent plates are GORGEOUS.

Thank you all for sharing!  I'm going to add links to my original answer...

    China: Lenox Pearl Platinum

    Flatware: Lenox Pearl Platinum

    Stemware: Lenox Solitaire Platinum

It is purely by coincidence that we ended up with all Lenox and all with Platinum in the name.  It was just what we liked!

We already have everyday dishes (Corelle) and a complete set of flatware for 12 (pfaltzgraff) but we wanted to have china/upgrade the flatware

ETA: We have already received 3 place settings of China, 2 flatware settings and a hostess set, 4 wine glass and 2 goblets.  I haven't even sent out my shower invites!!

Oh!! I want to play! I love this thread!

Before we even registered, my mom and dad bought us our cake serving set for the reception.  They purchased Lenox Opal Innocence.  I instantly fell in love with anything Opal Innocence.  However, I felt like the prices on this were a little more than I felt comfortable placing on our registry when combined with everything else.  We decided that we will purchase this pattern for our anniversary:

Oh how I love this pattern!

We chose this setting for our everyday dinnerware:

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of this set!  We currently have square plates and actually have never owned round so I know I'm pretty excited for something different.

For our flatware we went with this set.  My FI was pretty excited about it.  While I think it's slightly too modern for my taste, ladies, I have never seen someone so excited about flatware.  I couldn't say no, and it's not like I hate it.  I think it's pretty.

We also registered for the matching steak knifes.

For our stemware, we just went with the standard, Libbey Occassions.  We are not huge wine drinkers, and neither are our friends.  We didn't feel it was necessary for us to have expensive glasses.  Just something to have for the occasional nice dinner.

  • OMG, i'm so glad i'm not the only one who is batcrap crazy over China!

Our formal china is Lenox: Blue Chirp on square
    http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17393278
    - I LOVE birds (to the point of having a sparrow themed wedding) and FI's favorite color is blue (which i despise) so this was a perfect compromise.

Over everyday china is Target: square coupe
    http://www.target.com/p/home-basic-white-square-coupe-16-pc-dinnerware-set/-/A-13796192
    - i like square dishes and FI breaks them like it's his job so i can always replace them.

    our flatware is Onieda: Otello
    http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regProduct.asp?WRN=-1018738672&sku=18143500&
    - i thought it was sleek and would do with both the formal and everyday
