who to give the bride away?

My father and I are not on speaking terms, and have not been for 15 years. So obviously I won't be having him walk me down the aisle. The two best options I have are either my stepdad or my brother.

My stepfather is a very kind man, but he did not come into my life until I was an adult. However, he has always been very good to me, and when I went through a crisis a few years ago, he amazed me by how concerned he was for me.

The other options is my little brother, but I wonder if this will be weird (he is only 20, I am 33.) I feel very torn by this. I do not want to hurt either one's feelings, even though they are both too gracious to ever mention it. any thoughts?

Why not ask your mom? This role does not in any way require the possession of a penis.

Or walk with your groom. Or alone. Or with whomever you choose. There is no right or wrong answer.

Here are some options:

1) Walk by yourself

2) Have them both walk you down the aisle

3) Have your step-dad walk you down the aisle and have your brother stand up on your side as a bridesman

Don't worry about age or how long you have known the person. You need to decide who should walk you down the aisle (if anyone) by the closeness of the relationship.

What's wrong with your mother? Presumably she raised you and is still an important person in your life.

The fact that she has a vagina does not disqualify her.

I second the Mom suggestion. I didn't think about including it before because your post made it seem that you were just undecided between the two gentlemen you listed.
