Can't find a unique wedding venue in NJ!

My fiancé and I are looking for a unique wedding space to get married. We're not interested in having the ceremony in a church, and while reception halls and coutry clubs are beautiful, they're not for us. I'm personally more interested in a rustic barn-type or vineyard type wedding, and he would like a beach wedding, but ultimately we just want somewhere memorable!

Has anyone seen any unique places in New Jersey or New York (still close to Jersey) that might be of interest? I've been looking high and low but I feel like there have to be more places than I've found. Thank you!

  • The Conservatory at the Sussex Fairgrounds is very unique!  FI and I drove up one day to check it out, and the building is beautiful.  While we aren't going for a formal affair, we realized that it wasn't our style.

I know you're looking for a place in NJ/NY, but I recently attended a wedding at the Burnside Plantation in Bethlehem, PA.  The grounds are beautiful, and it was definitely a fun and unique wedding venue!

<div>Yay! I haven't heard of either of those places! Bethlehem PA is more than okay.. I live in North Jersey not too far from NY, but I grew up no more than 20 minutes from Bethlehem and my parents are still there. I am going to check them both out now!</div>
  • Indian Trail Club, Laurita Winery, Renault Winery, Valenzano Winery and Grounds for Sculpture are places I've heard of that are unique and may match the rustic vibe you're going for.

  • Farmstead Golf and Country Club in Lafayette, NJ--the building is beautiful, rustic...lots of exposed beams, etc.  It used to be an old farm.

  • We're getting married at David's Country Inn in Hackettstown. It's very unique- we were trying to avoid cookie cutter venues and just love this place. The staff is amazing as well. Good luck!

  • Just was at a wedding at the Prallsville Mill in Stockton. It's very rustic and "homey". I didn't like it because dinner and dancing were on two different levels.
  • We decided to go with Bello Giorno in Belvidere, NJ.  www.bellogiornocatering.com (old-school Italian, ask for Monica)

Runner up was Bank St. in Easton.  http://www.bankstannex.com (redone BANK, really awesome for vintage weddings)

You have to figure out what you WANT, and how much you want to SPEND.  I could go on for days.

I used an event planner to find mine.  They had amazing places.  I used Primo Events they were reasonablly priced.

Also there is a lake in Ringwood I believe.
