Best Maui Hotels for Honeymoon

We are going to Maui for our Honeymoon in Feb, trying to figure out the best hotel to stay in??

Re: Best Maui Hotels for Honeymoon

  • We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua and loved it.  We really loved that area because it was a little more secluded and quiet.  You would definitely need a rental car though.

The Hyatt and Sheraton in Kaanapali are also very popular and that is a fun area with a great beach.
  • West Maui or South Maui? Big or small? What's your budget and what do you like/what's important to you both? In West Maui, I like the Hyatt or Westin. In South Maui, I'd go to the Four Seasons.

  • We stayed at the Sheraton on Black Rock (Kaanapali).  It is a great beach near a lot of restaurants and the snorkling is awesome there.  Tons of turtles.   The Westin located right next door also looked beautiful.

We stayed at the Ka'anapli Beach Club and loved it.

  • We stayed at the Fairmont and loved it.  It's quieter and has less to do than the Lahaina area, but we did drive there for a luau and it wasn't too bad of a drive.
  • We stayed at the Westin Kaanapali and I kinda hated it. The rooms are tiny, for the price and every room is LOUD. The pool area & common areas are nice, but the food is atrociously expensive, even for Maui.

We visited South Maui and I preferred that area to Kaanapali. But if you do want to stay in Kaanapali, I would recommend the Sheraton or the Hyatt over the Westin.

  • We stayed at the Maui Hyatt and it was an average hotel with issues with the checkin process.  If you stay there and don't want a view of the parking lot/construction/other buildings get full ocean view, if not partial ocean view is "25% ocean view from any angle from your balcony" which in our instance was cranning our neck practically around the building. We ended up almost leaving after one of the front desk managers was rude to me and made me feel like I was asking for the world, after she told us they would move us to another room the next day and move our luggage, we got back from our day out to get ready for dinner and were told none of that had occured and we had to wait almost an hour to have it restraightened out and that was it and they gave us a free dessert to compensate for our issues.  I would say go elsewhere! Plus the parking is not included in the daily resort fee and is another $16/night unless you want valet and that is $20/night additional.

  • I just stayed at the Westin Maui on Kaanapali last month and loved it. My room was quiet, although definitely small, which for us was not an issue as we were only in the room to sleep and shower. I did not eat the food at the resort but I really liked the area because there were nice resturants and shops right next door and the town of Lahaina was a very short drive away. The Sheraton on Black Rock which was a 5 minute walk down the beach from our hotel also looked very nice.
  • We stayed at the Honua Kai near Lahaina and absolutely loved it.  We had a one bedroom suite which was huge and awesome and a great view of the ocean from the Lanai.  We got engaged on our trip and received a complimentary bottle of champagne.  It was kid-friendly but not kid-overrun like many of the neighbors seemed.  And all the hotels in that area were connected by a little boardwalk if you wanted to walk further down the beach.  I felt like this hotel was a GREAT bang for our buck and thought the room and living space really made the trip that much more enjoyable.
  • I stayed at the Grand Wailea when I was there back in April, and it was gorgeous. The food was delicious, the drinks were potent, and the pool area was perfect. I highly recommend it!
