Let's try this again...

I tried posting this before, and it didn't show up. So I'll try this again.

Is there something wrong with going to two different bridal shops? I bought my dress from a local bridal shop but, they did not have a large selection of bridesmaid dresses. The ones they did have were either floor length or too short (we are going with tea length). My girls were not comfortable with dresses that short. So we went to a different local shop for their dresses. The owner was COMPLETELY offended that I didn't buy my dress from her. I went in with one of my girls to get her sized and the woman brought it uo 4 or 5 times that I should've bought my dress from her! Am I wrong for getting my dress somewhere else?!

  • I don't think so. If she wants your business she shouldn't be complaining.

  • If the owner was so offended that you didn't buy YOUR bridesmaid dresses from her shop, then maybe she should have a better selection that would make you more inclined to shop with her. Sheesh. We're getting our bridesmaid dresses from the same shop only because they have exactly what we want. I would har totally gone elsewhere had they not.

  • I too got my dress from a different location from where my BM will be getting their dresses. The sales woman asked me as well, I told her that I had fallen in love with a dress elsewhere. Thankfully, she never mentioned it again.

  • I tried to explain to this woman that I love the dress I got from the other shop and that it was in my price range. I don't know why I felt the need to defend myself to her but, I did. I'm not looking forward to the other 3 bridemaids dresses we have to go in there and order,

  • She should have stopped bringing it up.  There is nothing wrong with going to 2 different places.  It's a choice.  I would have pointed out that if she wanted me to get even my BM dresses from her, she would not mention the dress again.  That's a horrible way to treat someone who is about to use her store to buy dresses.

  • I'm most likely going to be getting my BM dresses somewhere else. The place I bought my dress at had a good selection of BM dresses, but it's a smaller shop a bit out of the way for me, so it would really be out of the way for the BMs. Nothing wrong with it- she should have let it go.

  • I meant to mention this earlier, after I got engaged I had my ring appraised for insurance purposes and went to a different jeweler for obvious reasons. The guy kept asking my my FI did not get the ring from him. After third time he brought it up I just walked out.

  • that just shows bad tact on the owners part, don't sweat it!

  • There is no rule saying you have to get the them at the same place. I think it is rude that she kept bringing it up and in fact, I would have left her shop. Besides, you already purchased your dress, so what good is it to guilt trip you about it?

  • No, you're not wrong. That was really tacky of her to keep bringing it up.

  • We're getting them from a different place than where I got my dress. I see nothing wrong with it... she shouldn't make you feel bad about it!

  • I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

If I had ended up with the dress I was originally going to get at DB, the bridesmaid dresses were going to be from elsewhere (Alfred Angelo) - but since I ended up finding a better dress at Alfred Angelo, they are from the same place.

But it's not wrong to do that. It's rude and tacky of the owner to even bring it up.
