Preview of e-pics; disppointed :(

Got the preview of the unedited e-pics today.  A bit disappointed.  Partially a poor choice of attire for the shoot, and partially because we feel the photographer should have done a better job "coaching" during the shoot about necklace placement, needing to stand closer together, no leaning, etc.

We may be able to use some of these for the engagement party on 8/21, (1.5 weeks).  Would like to schedule a re-shoot, but just not sure there is time.  I left a message with the photographer.

:(  I'm sorry you're disappointed.  I agree with the points you made about the things that should have been addressed by the photographer (or an assistant if one was at the shoot).  That being said, there are quite a few cute ones in the mix!

I would definitely try and reschedule a session if you're not happy with them though.  Use the few that you can for the party, and then get a few more that you LOVE for your own personal use.

This is stated perfectly! I completely agree with YayBananas!!

I also think if you reshoot it might be nice to do an outfit change or two to spice it up. Maybe a cute sundress too?
Good Luck! Are you using this company for your wedding? If you are unhappy with the product for your engagement session, I would def consider shopping around for a new photographer for your wedding because you can't reshoot those!

PS. Have you visited with Colls or Daffodils yet? Did you find one cheaper or easier to work with? I am making my apt to visit both soon, as well as I did call the bestwestern in Keene to block some rooms I still haven't got a call back but I am planning to use you as a refferal!

I think you some have really cute shots in there! However, overall, I feel you could have more of a variety of poses and that possibly a change of clothing would have helped. I would have picked a second brighter colored outfit for the two of you. Color can really make a difference! I would talk to your photographer and let them know how you feel. But find the pictures you DO like so you can show him what you like and what you don't. Good luck!

I'm sorry you're disappointed :( But there are some really great shots in there! The lighting is great! Sometimes that's half the battle. I agree with some of your points (the necklace, etc.), but I don't know if its worth trying to reschedule. I think the colors you chose actually work with the woodsy backdrop. It would have been weird  in the woods with a sundress and heels, you know? Sometimes we're our own worst critics. You can always crop images you aren't crazy about. When I got mine back I liked about 30% of the pics, which is more than I usually like. I always hate having photos taken. If I ever liked EVERY picture of me taken I'd go play the lottery, LOL. I hope you figure out what you're going to do, GL!

I agree with PP.  You have some REALLY pretty and romantic shots in there that are just gorgeous.  I totally get what you mean though, especially the necklace placement.  I think you should use what you can for your e-party and then do the reshoot for your own useand memories. Good luck!

I think the pics are cute! Don't be too critical of yourself...no one ever likes their own photos! LOL

I love the picture of you with your head on his shoulder.....adorable.

I agree with PPs about outfit changes and brighter colors.

Thanks...we DO tend to be our own worst critics.....after looking at these several times, they didn't seem quite as bad and there were some that we liked.  (Especially the "70's Filter" colored ones---retro cute.

Had a long phone conversation with the photographer today.  He would be willing to re-shoot, but doesn't have time to do so before the engagement party--which was most of the point of having these.  Instead, we've pulled out about 40 of the photos that we liked and he's going to do some cropping/editing, etc. and put these on a DVD with music for us to use at the E-Party on 8/21.  He's also going to find a good one to blow up and crop as a shot for the newspaper announcement, (black & white).  Need to pick out songs and let him know so we can have DVD ready early next week.

Although he would re-shoot, I think we'll pass because it's just too much hassle to coordinate and take time off work, etc...when the e-party has already passed.   We may use some of these for guest book, and maybe some other photos that we take at the e-party.  Our Photographer is a SUPER nice guy and is giving us a great deal because he is a friend of a friend, etc.  We have a better understanding of expectations for the wedding photos and he'll be bringing a 2nd photographer at no extra charge that can help.

Amelia...have talked to both Colls & Daffodils by phone, but haven't met with them yet.  I have received two referalls from people who used Daffodii's...so we'll probably go with them.  Will probably meet with them either later in the year or early part of next year.  Last night, I spoke with Debbie Wright from "Tastefully Wright" cakes, (vendor recommended by the Shattuck).  Her prices are 3.50 or 4.00 per slice, depending upon Fondant or Italian Butter Cream Frosting, etc.  We may meet with her later on, but leaning towards Jacques European for cakes.
