We went by height, because I didn't really care. The girls didn't really know the guys, so it didn't matter to me. You could go based on people who match (hair color, eyes), alphabetical order, who will look best next to each other height wise (I wouldn't pair a short guy with a tall girl). Draw names out of a hat. If you really don't care who walks with who, just have fun with it.
Honestly, I lined my girls up by how close our relationship was and I let FI chose the order of his guys (he went alphabetically) and then that is how they were paired.
I'm going by the closeness i am with each girl and length of time we have known each other ( i know this sounds mean). I'm not telling anyone in my WP how i picked the order bc i don't want to hurt anyones feelings but thats how i picked the order. My order goes: MOH ( best friend known each other since i was born) my oldest sister my middle oldest sister my FI's sister FI's sister in law college friend
I let FI pick his order and it is pretty much the same rationale as me.
I went by relationship. Not in a bad way, but I went with My sister the MOH with his oldest brother the BM, then my sister in law and best friend from high school with his younger brother, then my best friend and his best friend and my cousin with his other close friend. so it was kinda by relationship to us and I went with hair color as well but it just so happened to work out by status too.

<div>This is what we did (except FI did closeness, not alphabetical, like I did). The only exception, was we made sure to pair up our BM/GM that are married to each other.</div>
My MOH (my sister) is walking by herself (FI's best man will be up there with him). My other sister comes next and she is walking with FI's cousin (they have been very close friends for their whole lives and are kind of in love with each other). FSIL is walking with FI's friend. They know each other really well because they went to the same college etc so they are friends. I have 1 of my cousins on my side and 1 of my cousins on FI's side. They are brother and sister and will walk together. My friend and FI's friend will walk together because honestly that's what's left lol.
You could do in order of height. Or in order of how close you are to them. We did sort of how close they are to me (but I wouldn't come out and tell them that) and we also tried to match up couples. We have 3 couples in our WP, so where possible we matched them up. Really it doesn't matter for our WP because they will only be walking 20 ft together.
I only have 3 of each in my wedding party. Two of the bridesmaids are wearing black dresses and one is wearing a red dress. (orginally i had 4 bridesmaids so it would have been even number of black & red dresses) I chose the best man and maid of honor to walk together first, Secondly the maid in the red dress with a groomsmen. Lastly, a maid with a black dress and the groomsmen who is wheelchair bound. My FI and I will be at the top of the steps with the officiant. The wedding party will form a line down the steps. It is important that our wheelchair bound groomsmen is on the bottom so he is on level ground.
I have 3 BMs, my two sisters and my almost-husband's sister. My youngest sister is MOH, so I just decided who of our groomsmen (who are our best friends) would be most respectful and put him with my AH's sister. My other sister is really easygoing, so we figured she could handle anyone hitting on her a little bit.

My girls are not walking with the guys.
My order goes:
MOH ( best friend known each other since i was born)
my oldest sister
my middle oldest sister
my FI's sister
FI's sister in law
college friend

My girls are not being escorted down the aisle, but will be escorted on their way out.
