I'm doing a trial because I've never had my makeup professional done (so I've never done airbrushing) and I tend to keep my makeup very natural.  Plus, I thought I may want fake eyelashes but want to try them out to decide first.  I don't want my makeup to be too heavy or bold on my wedding day - I want to know exactly what I'm getting :)

I booked without a trial, but then I still had one. I don't think make up artists will do a trial unless you book them ahead of time.

If you're worried you won't like the make up, that's what the trial is for. If you don't like what they have done the first time around, they can start over.

I'm going without a trial.  In the end, it was something easy to cut costs on, so I went for it.  If you can look at your artist's portfolio, and you like what you see, IMO you should be ok to go without one.
