All I know about the Arts Incubator is be careful not to schedule on a day when the gallery is open to the public, like First Fridays. People will walk up to your space and stare at you. It's very strange.

We toured the Art Incubator and liked it a lot. There were several things I didn't like about it though. First, the girl was really hard to get a hold of which to me was a red flag. The space is SO nice but we had to walk up these stairs and it was a little awkward like we weren't sure where to go it kind of felt like we were in an office building. The bathrooms were kind of in a weird location too. I loved the fact that you get a key and can pretty much do what you want. It's VERY pretty! BUT you have to rent tables and chairs from them and set everything up yourself. They even charge for ice. I've seen pictures of weddings there and it's GORGEOUS however, i didn't want to have to designate someone to set up/take down the day of my wedding, BUT if you have people that could/would do it for you then go for it. I would tour it if you're interested though, because it is pretty! Good luck!! :)

We are having our wedding at the Berg. We toured about 30 different spaces in KC and surrounding areas, and decided on that one. It's a really unique space, has a capacity of about 150 (so a smaller wedding crowd) and the pricing is really reasonable compared to other places. I really liked the facts that you can put any kind of color in the space -- we ran into problems with others that had color already in them.  We haven't had any problems getting ahold of them, and I think we are going to use a caterer that is related to the owner, which makes things run a lot smoother! They have a lot of pics on their website as well.

Just to let you know there is a war that is going on in the reception venue business that is being perpetuated by Jon Berkowitz at Club 1000. He is out bragging that he is getting event spaces shut down.

He has bragged that he got the Stowe Building shut down as well as the Arts Incubator. Notice on the Fox 4 problem solvers story that Club 1000 and Berkowitz were featured prominently in the follow up as "helping brides" when in actuality he was helping himself. Berkowitz is known in the business for being difficult and for overcharging his clients, mysterious charges to their deposits. Many vendors refuse to work with him, to verify simply search these forums and the evidence will be there. It is notable that Club 1000 was able to take in the displaced brides because his reputation has caused his business to dip dramatically these past couple of years. He has a lot of money and was simply able to buy his way through the media and KCMO officials even though his own building isn't up to code and the city knows it.

Just a warning that there are other spaces as well in the downtown core who are not up to code and are just a matter of time before they too suffer the same fate:

Ron Berg Studio, uses a freight elevator to move passengers and is not rated for assembly occupancies, the fire marshall is actively investigating and doesn't possess the proper liquor license

Club 1000, does not have adequate elevator capacity among other issues as well as not being rated for assembly occupancies in all of its spaces

River Market Event Space, does not meet code due to number of restrooms and is not sprinklered and is not rated for assembly occupancies.

These are just a few of the issues as they relate to KCMO codes, there are other spaces that most likely have the same issues

Are you not aware the Incuabotor is closed for weddings?
