Hello! I am pretty much set on booking with 20th Century in Oakley. I have been to a wedding there before so I know what it will be like. However, when it's your own wedding you realize there are lots of details to think about that you never paid attention to at the time of the wedding you were at.
We have our first meeting at the facility next month. I am just trying to find out as much as possible before then. Who else is booking/has booked there? I would love it if we could pick each others' brains and help each other with details in regards to what the site will and won't let us do. I hear they are pretty flexible.
We are doing both the ceremony and reception there. Retro Vegas theme during Halloween weekend (but on the Friday before Halloween) in 2011. We want to do a candy buffet but don't know if the site will allow us to bring outside food in. Does anyone know? Also does anyone know if they will allow sparklers outside for the grand exit? We got engaged on 4th of July.
Thanks!
Re: 20th Century Theater - anyone else getting married there?
20th Century is really cool, the owner is super nice and laid back. The VIP room is beyond excellent. They promise you plenty of time to setup and are willing to work through any snags etc. I just decided that the dance floor wasn't big enough. Also the fact that the bar was a little run down and outside of the main venue really bugged me. I know my invitee list...they'll want easy access to the bar and with the Redmoor they'll have that. I also thought the owner of the Redmoor was more professional and organized and it seemed like the restaurant there turned out good food on a regular basis. Honestly though, I don't think you could go wrong with either of the venues. They're priced about the same, so go for whatever one feels like a good fit for you and your guests!
mindiosu, Thank you again for letting me email you. You are a sweetheart.
dianavarga, Thank you for your reply! It really helps me to hear positive reviews from real people. I am split on the bar inside/outside issue. I like that 20th is outside so that the bar line won't be running into the tables. But I know we are going to lose people for a bit if they have to go out to to the bar. Hmmmm. We will just have to see what it feels like there.
