Bachelorette Party Downtown

Hi Girls,

My bachelorette party is going to be downtown and we're going to a Tiger's game first. My sister/MOH asked what bars I want to go to or what hotel I want us to stay in. I don't know downtown at all! I would love to hear any advice you guys have!!

A little background info:
-We're pretty laid back - not so much into the high-end type clubs or anything
-We also have a lot of girls who are tight on cash so we need reasonable rates for the hotel (looking to stay under $120ish/room) but also want something within walking distances to Comerica Park and/or the bars.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!!

I don't know downtown well, but have you thought about looking into a comedy club? Not sure if that is your style, but it can be laid back and fun and most ones that I've been to in downtown areas have been affordable.

That is a good idea but I think the Tiger's game will go late enough that we will just want to head to a bar - or back to the hotel to change to go out to the bars - right after the fireworks. I'm moreso looking for things to do at that point. Those are fun though, thank you!!

The Hilton Garden in is right by Comerica Park and should have lower rates than the casino hotels. Check that out.

Although if you know anyone that gambles ask them if they have any casino comps for the casino hotels. People often have them and never use them.

For bars, I highly suggest Delux lounge. It's on the edge of Greektown, sort of across from Old Shelaleigh and is kind of a club/sports bar/martini bar. Sounds weird, but one of my favorite spots for dancing. They've got a DJ and dance floor but it's not at all like a typical "club". They've also got dart boards, booths/tables, and a great martini menu as well as the usual bar. There's a cover, but if you have an industrious bridal party or call ahead, I bet you can get in for free.

I also suggest Pulse Lounge, which is just a couple blocks away. It's smaller and I don't think there's a dance floor, but they're also a martini/fancy drink kind of place.

There's also Centaur, which is kind of behind the Fox. Another fancy drink place (noticing a trend?!)

I can recommend others based on what you're looking for and what your party will be like, so feel free to message me. I live downtown -- but while I can tell you about the bars, I have no advice for where to stay :-)

The Atheneum suites at Greek Town are awesome for bachelorette parties. I have stayed there for two. You can usually get them for around $120 or $130 on the discount sites. If you are going to a Tigers game then you will all most likely be pretty casual. Check out the Ol Shillelagh. Cool Irish Bar right by Greektown Across from Fishbones. Right down the street from that Is the Detroiter in one direction and the Detroit Pub in the other. These are all laid back kind of bars. Right by the stadium is Hockeytown cafe and the Elwood. This is all within walking distance from the Atheneum and the Hilton Garden Inn.

A friend of mine did a Tigers game and bar hopping afterwards. It was a lot of fun. If you have any other questions let me know. HTH

Walking distance is kind of hard if you are not staying at the casino I know that the westin book cadillac and the holiday inn right next door to the westin are both reasonably price and the westin is great love their beds. Good luck sounds like a fun night make sure you come back and tell us how it went.

You will have a GREAT time at the Tiger game!

I second the Atheneum AND the Hilton Garden Inn. We've stayed at both after games at Comerica for special events (our anniversaries). Both are walking distance to Comerica Park. The Atheneum has larger rooms, you could get at least 4 girls in each one because they are suites with beds that fold out.

Bars: Centaur is good, there is one in the bottom floor of the Hilton Garden Inn that serves sliders, Hockeytown is always fun, The Town Pump Tavern is across the street from Centaur, behind the Fox Theater Garage.

You have to pay to park at the hotel parking lots (I think), so I'd recommend checking into your room early, leaving your car at the hotel, then walking to and from the game.

The other suggestions are great too.

If you get the one with two beds and a pull out couch you can fit 6 no problem. We fit 8 girls in the queen double suites to save money. We put two girls in each bed , two on the fold out couch and two brought small air matresses. The rooms are big enough for that. We didn't care because we were really just partying there and sleeping for a couple of hours. We were trying to be economical :)
You can park at the greek town casino structure and walk through the casino and validiate your ticket and park for free or there is a really cheap flat lot right across from the hotel that charges $5 out by 9 am. Sometimes its $7 on game nights. I definitely recommend walking to the game once you park. We always park at greek town and walk to the games. Much cheaper and easier getting out of town and you walk past a lot of the bars.

Such a good idea!! I would totally recommend the Hilton we have stayed there several times and it is in a safer area especially after the tiger game, the rates are right around or under what you were wanting to spend! Have fun!
