Hair Thinning - Help!

About two months ago, I was deathly ill with pneumonia (9 days in the hospital - 4 weeks total off work) and consequently from the meds, not eating properly due to no appetitie, and stress (in addition to being sick, I've moved and changed jobs in the last 8 months), my hair is thinning like crazy!  I had a really thick head before all this, but it is noticeably thinner and comes out very easily.  The wedding is in October.  Is there anything I can do to speed up regrowth and keep it nice and full?

Re: Hair Thinning - Help!

  • Prenatal vitamins, and try Nioxin!
  • My hair was doing this so I let it rest for a couple weeks ( No straightening, curling, tight buns or pony tails) I also did Nioxin, Pre-natal vitamins, and then another Vitamin that is just for skin, hair , and nails.  After the wedding I will discontinue the s,h,n vitamin.  It has worked wonders for me.  Also hope you are feeling better!!! Good Luck!

  • I was also going to suggest Nioxin.  I'm a stylist and deal with alot of clients with thinning hair issues and Nioxin works wonders.  As you become healthier, your hair should follow suit as well.
    Good luck!!

  • I have started a course of hair and nail vitamins from local heath shop and in 2 months they have amazed me with the results. My hair is stronger and my nails have grown so much that I have to cut them regularly now. I have supported this with reducing curling tongues and regulary moisturising my nails -twice a day...its worth it though and I am looking forward to a french polish for my wedding day in August now. I hope you continue on your road to recovery and enjoy a perfect day.
  • Not the OP but thank you for suggestions on Hair, Nail and Skin vitamins.  I have hypothyroidism on top of naturally fine hair so (almost) ANYTHING that might help is something I'll try.  I've already order Nioxin, but the more help my hair (and nails -- thanks, thyroid!) gets, the better!
