Re: invite wording first draft complete...thoughts welcome!

  • What do you think? I am thinking that the RSVP needs a little something other than Please respond by.......   What are you thoughts?   Just keep in mind this isn't a formal wedding, but also not completley casual either. It is also outside...

I'm personally not a huge fan of cutsie sayings on invitations, but if that is your style, and your wedding is not formal, I would say go for it.  Just a couple of edits: make sure to write out the name of the state and don't forget to leave a line on the RSVP card for the guest to write his or her name.  Overall it looks nice!
  • I agree that the RSVP cards need lines for names, and someone on here just brought up how she received an RSVP where the guest forgot to fill in their name! So just to be safe, you might want to apply a teeny-tiny numbering system or one of those black light pens--just in case.

I like the "awkward but enthusiastic dancing" bit :D

Is the ceremony outside or at a secular location... If so the wording is fine If its in a church it's appropriate to say request the honor of your presence

  • everything is going to be outside all in the same location.

I never even thought to add a place for names which is totally dumb on my end :)

Thank you for the  tiny number idea I will defanitly use it!

  • I like the cutesy phrases you chose :)

If it is a mostly informal wedding that's outside, I think you're wording is good.

  • I might almost make the invite wording more casual to match the tone of the dancing line and the RSVP card...
Mr. and Mrs. So and So
    Invite you to celebrate the
    marriage of their daughter
(then just like you have it from there)

Good idea with the numbers on the RSVP cards, too!
  • On ours we put: Kindly Reply by July 28 Names_____________ Attend! Can't wait! Decline... With Regrets Song Request______________ I had invites go to 12 states I said the first RSVP back from each state gets guaranteed request played at the wedding... So far it has helped with procrastinator friends getting theirs back right away.

  • Just something I wanted to bring up in case it hadn't occurred to you: consider including your fiance's parents' names? Suggestion only, not a requirement.

son of Mrs. and Mrs. F.S.

I opted to include my FIL's names since I am very close to them and they're doing so much to support us from hosting the RD, a day-after brunch, etc.

I thought of that too.  his middlle Initial is F. he hates his middle name so he asked If i could please just use the F.   we don't ike the way is sounds with just his first and last name.
FMIL is remarried to a much younger man ( 20 years younger only a couple years older than FI) and he considers him a friend not a step father so it is complicated.   I am going to rewrite a little later on and I will post an update using some of the advise you ladys have given.   Thank you all for your help! I think the invite wording has been the biggest Pain in the butt.
