Suggest a book - I need new reading material

According to my Kindle, I am 90% through the final book in the Shades of Grey series. That means I will be out of reading material TONIGHT! Help save my boring commute!! Have you recently finished a book that you loved? Brownie points if it's a series (as I appear to be addicted to series' lately!)

Books i've recently read and loved:
- Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (series)
- Hunger Games (series)
- Alexis Stanton Chronicles (series)
- Shades of Grey (series)

*also - I must admit I've loved the Shades of Grey books. The first book was very risqué...but as the books have progressed, the story has gotten deeper. There is still a lot of sex in all the books, but I have really enjoyed the suspense and the character development. As one who originally judged the subject matter, I just wanted to share that I've actually changed my mind on these.

On Jemmini's recommendation, I went back to Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I read the first one a while back. Now I'm about 1/4 through the 5th and final book. It's pretty entertaining.

I'm re-reading The Historian by Elizabet Kostova for the third time. Although it is not a series, it's very long and detailed but SO good.

There is one series I absolutely love called Inkheart (there's three) They're supposed to be for young adults but seriously I love them.

I just read an awesome book called The Forgotten Garden. I read it in one day, stayed up until 2 am to finish it. I couldn't put it down!

I am going to have to look into this Shades of Grey series!

I want to say that I started reading 50 shades when flygirlmeg started so we could talk about it and well last night the book invaded my dreams. I was so happy to wake up. Yeesh!

The YaYa Sisterhood books are lovely! There is "Little Alters Everywhere", "Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood" and then "YaYas in Bloom". I recently read "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" and it's a beautiful novel about women in China in the 1800's I love historical books, so this was right up my alley.

I'm currently reading "The Magicians" by Lev Grossman. There is also a sequen called "The Magician King." They are very fun and the characters are great!

I just read The Forgotten Garden, and I'm finishing The Distant Hours (both by Kate Morton). I LOVE HER. She just really weaves the story in such a way that you're hooked... there's 3 or 4 different stories going on in different time periods that somehow all link back to the plot. You seriously can't guess what happens until the very end. Next on my list is her book, The Riverton.

I also recently read Wisdom's Daughter. It was surprisingly good; a little hard at first, but once you get into it, it's great.

These are my three books to read this summer. Maybe one of them will peak your interest?

Devil in the White City-It's a true story, but it reads like fiction. It's basically two stories that take place during the Chicago World's Fair. One of the stories is architect Daniel Burnham's story, and the other story is that of a mass murderer. I haven't started it, but I got it on recommendation from a professor.

The Art of Racing in the Rain-I've heard it's good, and I'm a sucker for a dog centric life lesson book.

Wicked-I read it a long time ago, and I remember really liking it, so I am re-reading it. Hopefully I'll eventually get to the rest of the series.

I am rereading The Hunger Games and also reading Sondheim's Finishing the Hat, it's about his musicals and lyric writing. I love it. I am hoping to next read Game of Thrones I love the series so far. I also recently downloaded The Secret Garden I haven't read it in ages.

Riyria Chronicles has been really good - the three (primary) titles are Theft of Swords, Rise of Empire, Heir of Novron. All 3 books actually are made up of 2 books. Sci-fi/Fantasy (probably more on the side of the latter).

Also, the Liaden universe books by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller have a bunch of books. There's a total of 13 novels with that series, and it's a fun read.

Like so many others, I can also recommend A Game of Thrones. But I will also add that the series is actually called "A Song of Ice and Fire." This drives me crazy; I blame HBO.

I also recommend the series His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. The first book (out of 3) is called The Golden Compass. It was made into a movie a few years ago, but was a major box office flop. The books are young adult fantasy, but spend a lot of time exploring philosophy, theology and physics. I highly recommend reading this series.

That last book brings everything together pretty well. I mean, obviously it's not an astonishing literary achievment type of book, but they are definitely entertaining.

I'm also reading 50 Shades of Grey, I'm about halfway through book 2. They are a fun read too, not very realistic, obviously, but not bad (although I'm getting a little irritated with her constantly referring to her 'inner goddess', ugh)

I also really like the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. They are all pretty massive books (800+ pages usually, #5 is over 1400). I stopped after number 4 because I wasn't crazy about that book, but I'll eventually finish the series, I think there's 8 books total.

Also, one of my favorites is the Sookie Stackhouse books, which the show True Blood is based off of. The 12th book is out today, actually. I'll read it, but I feel the author getting bored with the series (She's contracted for 13 books in 13 years), so they've been getting progressively more unbelievable. Still entertaining, but not as engaging as the earlier books.

Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies! I've got some great options now.

I'd love to start a 50 Shades of Grey thread soon and get everyone's opinions. I liked the books for their entertainment value...but there's a lot that I didn't like too. Could be an interesting discussion!

I also highly recommend The Art of Racing in the Rain. Wonderful book!
