Inner Envelope Wording

Hi All,

We are having a formal wedding and are wondering how to word the inside envelope. There are several married couples with different last names. Would we simply put:

Mr. Doe
Ms. Smith

Just like that on two lines?

What about the inner envelop wording for close family? Should we put "Grandma Anne" and "Uncle Tom" or write out their names formally as in above?

Thanks!

Re: Inner Envelope Wording

  • Their names go on the same line even on the outer envelope. I thought it was separate lines because of the different last names but if not, I'm glad you brought t to my attention.

  • Different last names but married = same line :)
  • Does the woman's name go first even if the couple is not married?

  • Yes, women's names are ALWAYS listed first - no matter who you are better friends with.

If it's a couple not married and not living together, list only the person to whom you are actually mailing the invitation on the outer envelope - on the inner include both names, ladies first.
  • For a married couple where the woman kept her maiden name, do you use Ms. or Mrs.??
