First Look?

Who's doing one, and how much time are you planning pre-ceremony for pictures?

We have decided to have a first look.  As much as I'd love to wait until the ceremony it makes more sense for us to have the first look.  We want to be able to travel off-site for some pictures that take advantage of the beautiful area.  I think we are giving ourselves 2 hours to do pictures of the first look, just us, and the bridal party.  This also includes time for travel.  I'm curious to hear what others are doing!

I agree!  I struggled with this but in the end I figurd that the first look creates a more intimate moment of us seeing each other and of course creats photo time.  our schedule will go something like...

    getting ready photos - 2:30
    first look - 3:30
    ketubah signing - 4:15
    ceremony begins - 5

We are taking photos w/immediate family beforehand, and we might try to get some extended family shots during the cocktail hour.  We don't have a wedding party.

11:30ish--photos (our photog said we need 30 minutes, I think we might err on the side of caution and tell our families earlier to actually have a nice first look and not be rushed)
    12:30--ketubah signing, veiling
    1--processional begins

FI is insistant upon seeing me in the church for the first time. So we won't be doing a first look. We are going to do a lot of family photos and portraits before the wedding. Then we'll go to one or two locations before heading to the reception.

we're doing a first look too, it just makes so much more sense with our timeline on the day. we're going on a schooner between the ceremony and reception so doing pictures after the ceremony would have meant we stayed ashore or everyone waited on the dock for an hour! we have about 1.5 hours to get the pics done (FL, WP, family etc).

FI is really on board with the idea too, he thinks the whole thing will be emotional enough for him so it might make it more manageable to break it up into chewable moments ;)

It was important for me to do a First Look.  It let me release some nerves and I was able to touch up my makeup and not cry my way through the ceremony ;)

We definitely didn't give ourselves enough time for pictures.  I'd say two hours is a good amount.

I wish she'd gotten better shots, but I'll take what I can get.  And it really calmed me down.

I never even thought of doing a first look. I want my fi to see me for the first time coming down the isle. We're going to do pics after the ceremony for about an hour. Then all head over to the reception.

We are going to do them.  We have only alotted about 30 mins, as FI didn't really want to do them, so I didn't want to push it.  Our photographer said that that should be plenty of time as we are not traveling anywhere to do them.

We also going to do bridal party pics before hand, we'll do family after.
