rsvp via email??

this is my reply card , has anyone ever just had email rsvp instead of prestamped envelopes?? it would be easier to keep track of i think. what is your opinion?

I think your wedding deserves better than emailed RSVPs. Not a fan. Email responses are for birthday parties and backyard BBQs. Even if it's not a very formal, black-tie event, traditional mailed RSVPs lend a sense of classiness and importance to the day. If my first glimpse into your wedding is that you wanted an emailed RSVP, I'd assume it was an extremely casual (or perhaps thrown-together) event. That might be an incorrect assumption, but that's the impression I'd get.

If you go this way you can expect that half of your guests will probably not bother to respond. It is already difficult to get people to respond when you send a pre-stamped envelope. Plus it seems tacky to me.

Are you having a super casual wedding? If so, this is okay. If not, I'd suggest doing RSVP cards. Not everyone has email, and those that do are likely to forget to email you - people are already likely to forget to mail in a card. I think weddings should be something a little more special and important than any old party - I'd say skip the email.

ok, good input. the question is then am i required to send pre-stamped envelopes for the rsvp?? and they should be self-addressed right?

No, you are <u>not</u> required to include pre-stamped envelopes for replies. That doesn't mean you won't get an earful from a boatload of people who think otherwise, though.

I feel that though you aren't REQUIRED to do pre stamped envelops your chances of getting the RSVPs back are greatly increased if you do. Its a heck of a lot easier to check a box and throw it in the mail than it is to hunt down a stamp. Are postcards still cheaper to mail? if you i've seen RSVP postcards....just a thought

We did email RSVPs for our wedding and reception and most people replied. The ones that didn't were mostly family and so it was very easy for us to track them down. I guess its normal in my area. Every wedding I've been invited has had email RSVP, sometimes with an option of a phone number as well. It made it so easy for us to keep track of numbers because on our gmail account we had a document with guest list and just filled in the numbers as we got the emails.

We will be including an email, and for those of whom I know it may bother, we will have a mail back RSVP. I know my friends pretty well......I know most of those people would rather just email. Does it take away from some of the classiness? Maybe a little, but I don't care. I would rather give people options, and I would prefer to email back to someone myself, so I'm sure others will feel the same. I mean, if people wanted really old fashioned then registries and wedding websites wouldn't be used, but they are used all the time.

<div>that was my initial feeling. i know my friends are super laid back. they wouldn't care at all about it being informal. for the few others that might think it's to casual, i'll follow suit and send a stamped rsvp envelope :) thaks! </div>

I highly recommend including a pre-stamped envelope if you're doing RSVPs to be mailed back, and preaddressing the envelope is also a good idea. People may not have your address, may not think to look at the envelope you sent them to get your address off it, or may simply not know where to send it. I know FI's family has no idea where I live, so my address would be impossible for them to hunt down.
