Wedding Update Wednesday?

Let's try something new...

So, if you are planning still, tell me about your recent accomplishments (PIP if you can).  If you are taking a break in planning, what's next on your list?

And if you're already married, tell me what's the biggest change since the wedding in your routine or relationship!

as for me, I'm calling hair people.  I have info from Pretty Hair Salon and Brooke Rockwell, and I just need to call Monica Kitta and then decide.  G is awesome and looking over some invitation designs for me because we are hoping to DIY ours and want to get a head start on it.

Any suggestions on how to pick a hair stylist if you've never had your hair done by them?

I haven't posted in a while, so I'll play! I know I was whining in a previous post about not wanting to DIY my invites anymore, but after spending last Saturday designing them, I got over it. I plan to add a silver backing to the invite as well. Sorry for the ugly squigles through the names : ) All materials from C&P. I'm not sure if I like the florish on the enclosures though. I might put a design under the titles instead. I need to do some extra formatting too- still a work in progress

Additionally, I've been trying to secure my vocalist and organist. Any Duq brides out there want to share whom they are using (PM me please!)

I, thankfully, have gotten a lot of the checks out of the way this week.  I asked our ceremony musician (my uncle), selected a cake, and bought my wedding shoes, pictured below.  Oh, and my Mom is off today and she's starting work on my invites so that's a relief.

Hmm - i have gotten alot accomplished latey!

I guess the big things are:
-Had final dress fitting - and its ready to go!
-Picked first dance song and song that the bridal party will come out to (still need to decide what we will be introduced to)
-Finished picking music and readings for the ceremony
-Received ALL RSVPS and completed table assignments!

The to do's that are most important:
    -Programs!
    -Escort cards
-and bachelorette party this weekend.. which isn't really a to do.. but i do have to prepare for it (i need an outfit!!)

md - i went with Brooke because she was one of the few people that was available that would come to my house, and she had received a lot of positive reviews! As for my make-up, i'm going with someone that one of my BM recommended..

Right now, FI and I are going over the contract for our DJ, then we'll go ahead and send it in with the deposit!  We're finalizing our guest list; once we get that straightened out, we'll probably begin making and sending out the save-the-dates.

I need to find a dress, too.  The wedding isn't until next April, so I'm giving myself until the end of the summer.   My mom wants to go with me on every dress trip I make (which is hard since I'm in DC and she's in Pittsburgh), so it's been hard to go shopping.  I'm starting to get stressed because I have no idea what I want....

jenice - invites look great! We are also planning to DIY... hopefully by starting on this stuff early we won't get too stressed by it.

db - wow you are doing really welll with those checks Can't wait to see how all your details come together.

ginny - maybe try looking without your mom sometimes... if you have no idea what you want even going to david's bridal and trying on a bunch of different styles can help you narrow it down.  Going to a running of the brides really helped me with that.

Hmmm lets see.  I left a message with Father at his church to arrange our ceremony.  I go to MB Bride tomorrow and hope to find a dress.  Tonight I am taking my niece shopping with me to get started on my card box and to browse wedding stuff.  I plan to DIY my invitations but may not because I have to send STDs since I am a memorial weekend bride.  I should spend sometime here soon designing them but alas I lack some motivation.

So how about the other to-do list - my total house renovation.  Waterproofing and basement white walls starting Friday.  Saturday enjoying throwing the remains of an old yucky bathroom into a dumpster.  Sunday will be spent trying to help or staying out of the way lol.

I haven't been around in a while so i'll play.

I am currently trying to book my makeup artist for myself and my girls. I have contacted Kate marshall by email twice now and have not heard back either time :( I'm not too excited about that...hoping I don't have to rule her out as a vendor. Does anyone know if she is still doing makeup?

Next on my list is a videographer!

Oooh I was able to check off a few things this past week..
I finally got all my bridemaid dresses ordered. I ended up ordering the rosette dress in mint green from The Limited and my bridesmaids love it. The color is actually a beautiful light teal.  I also met with Remo's catering and our DJ, so I was able to book both of those and check them off in the same day! I'm really excited for the BBQ reception packages that Remo's offers, it seems like the perfect fit for our Memorial Day weekend wedding.  Still seems like the to-do list is neverending, but I'm glad that I'm at least making some headaway.

    It's been a while...
Right now, I'm starting to look at reception venues.  I'd like to visit some before I move.
I bought DIY Invite kits...Wilton Sweetheart in pink and silver (walmart $19/box)
I have decided on a cake baker--Ligo's specialty cakes--I just have to get everyone else on board.

Sometime soon, our families are going to get together and hash out the details on who's paying for what, etc. * FI's parents dropped him off at the airport and were talking to my mom.  His dad--who wanted us to wait until we're 33--offered to pay for half! I almost fell out of my chair when my mom told me*

I had to take a little break from planning b/c of the move, ice show, and buying a new car.  Hopefully, things will start falling into place soon

I've am new to the knot but am getting married in October.  I've been really busy lately planning, planning, planning.  My Fiance and I went taste testing today and booked our cake with Signature Desserts..everything was delicious.  We also went to Michaels today and picked up white lights, tulle, bubbles, and a few other essentials for decorating and centerpieces.   We bought all of our glass cylinders for the centerpieces at the Dollar Tree and saved a ton of money.

I am waiting for my dress to come in...they told me the end of June.  So that will be next on the agenda, as well as booking a salon for me and my bridesmaids.  We are DIY inviations so we need to start printing those, hopefully this weekend or next week.

    Good luck planning to all!
