Beach House Wedding Help

I would like to find a beachfront rental property that my family can stay at, as well as host the wedding ceremony and reception on that property. I'm looking anywhere in Georgia or Florida, my family lives in Georgia but my fiance and I are stationed in Pensacola, FL. The wedding will not be larger than 65 guests. If you know of any or have any recommendations please let me know! I have been looking for months and cannot find one with enough outdoor space to have a wedding reception...

Thanks so much for your help!!

  • You'll get the best areaspecific responses if you crosspost this on the corresponding local boards. If I were you, I might look into bed and breakfasts... As well as checking popular vacation rental companies around the areas you're zoning in on. They should be able to direct you to properties that meet your criteria. You've got a lot of coastline available!

  • Things to think about with having a Beach House Wedding
-House must be large enough to accomodate 65 people should it rain (it's florida so good chance)
-If house isn't on private beach, will you have to get a permit to have ceremony out on beach
-Bathrooms, make sure you have mutliple bathrooms available and that you bring lots of extra toliet paper with you to make sure you don't run out (any extra can be taken back home)
-Parking, based on the number of people you invite. If you inviting approx 65 people, I'm guessing there will be at least 30 cars, you'll need to make sure there is parking available for all the cars near the home or arrange for shuttle service

I'm not saying don't go with your idea, these are just some logistics to think about when planning & picking a location. I would try to find a reputable vacation home rental company & let them know what you are planning. Some rental home owners may not allow for an event this large to be held in their homes. A rental agency will know all the details of what you can or can't do and if the home has all the things you will need to have a great day.

  • We are doing the same thing in CA.  We ended up finding something on a vacation rental by owner website but I would also recommend talking with realtors and property managers, we met with a few and they were able to tell us  which owners allow events at their rentals.  We had to pay more to have our reception at the vacation rental and had to sign two separate contracts, one for the ceremony/reception venue and one for the house rental but both seemed fair and straightforward.   Best of luck!
