Only children/teenagers as bridesmaids

We are only having children/teenagers as bridemaids however they obviously can't be a witness.
Can I just pick someone else to do who otherwise doesn't have a role or do I have to have give whoever it is another role/'position' ?

Re: Only children/teenagers as bridesmaids

  • You can have an adult witness.   My friends had their mothers sign their certificate as witnesses instead of the bridal party.
  • Witnesses don't need to be attendants.  Any adult can do it.
  • Depending on where you get married in New York, your witnesses do not necessarily need to be 18.  In the City, you need one witness over 18 to marry.  In other counties, including my home county, there was not a minimum age for witnesses.  I'd call or visit your city/county clerk or licensing office to get more specific information for your location.  There's some basic info here: http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/p/newyork.htm.
