NWR: Job Stress

I cannot handle the CONSTANT uncertainty. Last April, we had a complete reorganization/realignment. That wasn't good enough for the powers that be, so in October, they announced that "all options are on the table in regards to *my division*" and more details would come at the Q4 announcement. The Q4 earnings just got realeased, and low and behold, advisors have been retained to "consider all options in regards to the complete separation of *division* from *company*".

Are we getting sold? Spun off? Relocated? I don't know! And of course, no final decisions until the Q2 earnings call.

Even worse, we are desperately short staffed and were told we could hire after this earnings call. No way they'll agree to that now.

There is not enough vodka in the world to deal with this.

Re: NWR: Job Stress

  • I'm sorry you're dealing with this :( Could you find a new job that would be more stable?
  • In my field in this economy? No. Sciences suck right now. My particular industry is consolidating like mad. Adjacent industries are shipping all their jobs to China. I could choose to relocate to an area that has more jobs in my field, but they likely wouldn't have jobs for my FI. I'm hard science. He's squishy science. :p
  • LOL I love the description of your jobs!
  • I have no idea what to say right now other than, that really sucks, and I hope you get some good news and/or answers soon!

  • I'm sorry.

If I was near you we could go to a bar and complain about our job instability together. Vodka sounds fabulous.

  • Sorry this is happening. I have no clue what they are doing, maybe some else here has some experience?

  • Acaponis, I go to Columbus on a regular basis. We can meet up for drinks.

Ha, actually, Cincinnati is a possibility. P&G is one of the few companies my FI and I stand a chance at getting hired together.

That'd be great! Cinci is actually really nice..I just moved down here in August since FI lives/works here. He actually may move to P&G in the next few years..he's at GE right now.

  • I'm a technical services/applications chemist. FI is a biochemist (hence, squishy science).
  • haha I am a development chemist.  I worked as an analytical chemist in a testing lab previous to this position though.  I feel ya about the job market... its tough, especially if you aren't in a big city!

  • That's really horrible about not getting any answers.  I guess for now, it's better to be employed than unemployed.  Take each day with a grain of salt and when you leave the office for the night, don't look back.  Sorry, that's all I've got for you.  Good luck!
  • I'm sorry you have to deal with that.  I hope you find out some good news soon.

  • I'm sorry, I can't imagine how hard it must be to be in consistent limbo.  I hope you get some form of news soon, and hopefully it's good news!
