Meeting with the Church tonight!

Some of you may remember that I was very frustrated a few weeks ago that our church (we are very new members) had recently given the evening wedding slot to another couple. I did not have a hold on this slot or anything but I was so disappointed. I really really wanted to avoid a Catholic gap. We were tied to one specific date and so we were debating whether to take the early slot or to go to another parish.

Anyway, after praying about it and checking out a few other local churches, Mr.Owl and I decided that St. Mary's is definitely the one, even if we do have the 1:30pm ceremony time slot.

I can't wait to meet with the coordinator tonight! I'm all anxious and excited. Any advice for what I should ask? What questions I should be prepared to answer?

I'm glad that you guys figured out what you want to do! Congrats.

I am probably not of much help, since we are not getting married in a church.
    - Are there rooms for you and/or FI to get dressed in?
    - Are you allowed to throw petals, birdseed, have bubbles, etc.
    - What time frame are you permitted there (i.e. what is the latest you have to leave because of the later bride, what's the earliest you can arrive).
    - What type of marriage counseling will you be required to take?
    - Can you use an aisle runner? Can you throw flower petals onto it (or on the ground if no aisle runner)?
    - Do you have to use in-house musicians for the ceremony?

These are random questions that you probably don't necessarily need to know right now, but they probably have a policy on it, so you can figure it out now.

Check about a unity candle and your own vows we are not aloud to do either.

I would definitely ask about what they require for marriage counseling, especially since it is a catholic church. We had to do an engaged encounter weekend, which was a requirement but we both very much enjoyed it. Those weekends fill up quickly though so it would be good to plan ahead if you need to do it!
