Grooms cake?

Has anyone used Gator cakes before for their Groom's cake...or any other cake for that matter? If you have, what did you think of them?  If not, who else have you used for a Groom's cake.  I am trying to make it a somewhat economical.  Thanks for your help!

I am doing a 2 dimentional cake for the grooms cake -- it will be a Chevrolet Z28 logo . . I have always joked that if my FI's car was a girl, he would marry it instead of me . .LOL
I was going to do a 3-D cake of the actual car but cost prevented me from doing so . . the logo will still have the visual appeal but keep cost down . . maybe you could do the same . . instead of the actual Gator - do the logo . . just a thought.

We used Publix for both our wedding cake, and for the grooms cake.  It was very inexpensive (compared to local bakeries) and they tasted great!

Grooms cake originated as an excuse to have another flavor, usually filled with friut or chocolate. Usually they are decorated in something that represents the groom, as generally everything else at the wedding is the bride's choice. It's more of a southern thing.
