I finally bought THE dress last weekend! I ended up with "Petra" by Sophia Tolli from Bridal Beginnings in Mt. Lebo. I wanted to share a few of my experiences at stores for any girls shopping for their gown.
Bridal Beginnings: B+ I didn't like them at first because the lady working with me didn't really seem to understand what I was looking for. I'd say no lace, and she'd bring out an all lace gown! Just as I was loosing hope and patience I said we only had time for one more dress and of course out came the gown I ended up buying. It was everything I wanted. Then, when I said I wanted to think about it my consultant was noticably annoyed. (Sorry, it's kind of a big purchase!) Afterwards I kind of felt like she did it on purpose, giving me gowns that were not what I wanted and then saving the best for last. It worked and I went back 2 weeks later and bought the gown, but I don't like feeling like she was wasting my time with the other dresses and "playing me".
Exquisite Bride (both locations): A+ I was very sad I couldn't eventually order my gown from either of their stores, but they don't carry the designer of my gown. The sales consultants don't work on commission and it shows in a very good way! They aren't pushing expensive gowns on you and the consultants work together and help one another. Every time we went there the people were extremely kind, friendly, and helpful! I highly recommend taking time to stop at one of their stores.
Alfred Angelo (McKnight Rd.): A- They are very kind here and really gave me that "bridal" shopping experience.
One Enchanted Evening: C I have tried shopping here for not only my bridal gown, but also high school dances and Prom and I've never walked out happy. I've met the owner and she seems snobby and unhelpful. Also, they didn't seem to have a lot of variety in the types of gowns in their store.
MB Bride: C- Now I swear I am not as high maintenance as this makes me sound, but overall I felt like the store was dirty. I think I caught them at somewhat a bad time (end of a big sale), but nonetheless I was far from impressed. The gowns I tried on were in terrible condition. I know lots of girls try these gowns on, but they were all torn, dirty, and somewhat falling apart. The changing room doors didn't close all the way so my mom had to stand in front of it, and my consultant had not mastered the art of helping get gowns on! It usually took several tries before she could nail the "bridal dive". I do have to say though that they had a LARGE variety of designers and gowns.
I'm sure other girls may agree or disagree with some of my reviews but those were my feelings after shopping! Hope it helps and good luck!
