Amazon.com registry

Anyone used the Amazon.com registry feature?  Seems like it could be a good choice, they have everything!

I've used Amazon.com's registry for a friends wedding and loved it.  There was an option of purchasing in store or online and either way it would show it was purchased on the registry site.  Plus I'm used to using Amazon so I didn't have any issues when using my credit card.  If it's a site I'm not used to I get worried about sharing my credit card info.

ETA:  There was also a feature for the bride and groom to kind of "rate" which gifts they really needed or wanted so it made it easier for me to get them a gift that I knew they'd buy after the wedding if they didn't get it as a gift.

[QUOTE]You may consider using Registry 360 because it allows you to register for anything you can find online. It has a feature similar to Pinterest's "Pin It" button where you can put a "Add to Gift Registry 360" button on your browser and then add anything you want to your registry. That way you can add anything you find on Amazon along with items from other stores where you don't have a full registry.

<div>Amazon.com has this feature also. Look for the 'universal registry' button after registering on amazon.com. </div><div>
</div><div>I just started an amazon registry for myself, and have used them as a guest before. The only thing I can think of to complain about is that if you use the universal registry feature to add something from a web page with multiple items, it doesn't specify which one. For example, on the Williams-Sonoma website, if you click on a page that lists a bunch of different Shun knives, and then you click the 'add to amazon' registry, it won't add just a specific one (if you click on the page for just a single knife it works fine though). That's the only glitch, and overall I would recommend it. We have a BB&B registry for most stuff and are just using amazon as a catchall for anything we want that isn't sold at BB&B. It's good to have a low-tech option for some guests. </div><div>

  • I have heard not-so-great things about Registry 360, and as others mentioned, Amazon has that same feature.  I use it all the time for Christmas gift ideas.  I haven't actually used an amazon wedding registry, but they have had phenomenal customer service on multiple occasions that I've needed it, and I love Amazon so I would definitely shop from a registry like that if it was available.

  • I don't see a problem using Amazing.com as a registry, but I would also suggest a registry at a more traditional store as well.  My parents went to a wedding recently and the bride and groom had only registered on Amazing and it really confused them.  My folks are a little older and not so computer savy and they were really frustrated they couldn't just go into a store and buy a gift (I know that technically that is an option with Amazon, but my parents could not figure that feature out).

I was going to use Amazon's registry but I read something somwhere about people having a few issues with the universal registry part of it. If a guest clicked to buy one of your non-Amazon items but then decided not to purchase it, it would still be marked as purchased on your registry. If all your items are going to be from Amazon, I don't think you'll have any issues. And they may have fixed the problem by now.

<div>We registered at Amazon and didn't have that problem.  We registered for things on Amazon (cookbooks, tools, a few cooking items) and some items from William Sonoma, REI, and an online Judaica store via the universal registry option.  I like that there's an option for a guest to indicate that they purchased a gift somewhere else--the guest can mark something as fulfilled without buying through the website you list.  </div><div>
</div><div>You should list your shipping address on your wedding website registry page, if you have one, because the address doesn't get filled in on universal registry items like it does when you register at the actual store, so guests need to fill it in themselves.  </div><div>
</div><div>The main drawback for us was Amazon's return policy.  We had no trouble exchanging items we received from REI and William Sonoma, but Amazon has a time-limited return policy that isn't great considering that guests may wait to give you a gift or you might get a duplicate later on.  We got a duplicate of one of our cookbooks, and we didn't know where the second one was from, so we tried to return the first to Amazon.  They were willing to be flexible on their return policy, but we would have had to pay shipping, so we just decided to regift, since we love the cookbook.  </div>
  • IMO myregistry.com > 360

  • I LOVE buying from amazon's registry.  It's true that their universal registry button gets funky sometimes, but the general site is great.  Plus I have prime shipping so it's always free for me if it's something that Amazon sells directly, and it's free for all guests over $25.  Like PP said I'd still do one or two in-store options as well but Amazon can fill out some odds and ends for you.  I've had a number of friends request we do amazon so that they can get a deal and not pay for shipping.  We're going to use it as an opportunity to get cookbooks, tools, lawn chairs/coolers, and some odds and ends for the kitchen.

  • H and I are major Amazon customers on a regular basis, so of course we had an Amazon registry.  It was easy for us to set up, and from what I've heard, easy for guests to use.

  • Yes amazon is really good place to register yourself......My cousin registered herself at amazon and she is really happy with the service.....

I am registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Myregistry.com.....I like the things they have......I like few items of BB&B and few at Myregistry.com.....So I just registered at both places.....
