Help please, good seamstress for wedding dress

Does anyone have sugestions for a really good seamstress (independent or otherwise) in NO, baton rouge or any surrounding area. I'm reusing a dress and need to have it sized. Since I'm saving a hunk not buying a dress I'm fine paying whatever it takes to make it right. I've read some not so good alteration stories so I want a 1st hand rec from someone. Thanx

I haven't used him yet, but you'll see a ton of recommendations on here for Danny at the Golden Needle on Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge.

Leslie Walters is independent and very talented. She charged me 200 dollars in labor to make my entire dress from scratch and do three fittings.  She is also incredibly quick (it took her about 3-4 weeks to make my dress. My guess is that she can get alterations done in a week or two).

If you want any other names, I'd contact Promenade Fine Fabrics on St. Charles Avenue and ask where they send their clients (it's very posh, I get the feeling that the sort of ladies who have dresses made all the time go there).  I got Leslie's name from them, but they gave me a couple other names that I don't recall anymore.

  • Who did you end up using if you don't mind my asking? I did the same thing and am currently looking for a seamstress/tailor myself!
